View Full Version : Dramatic Readings

So, I have now taken it upon myself to open up a website. A large part of this website is for me to post funny stuff, and post other people's funny stuff. Another part of the website is the Dramatic Readings that I have done in the past. I know people have been asking about where they can find them, and some of the old ones died with my old computer... but I am making new ones.

Actually, I just posted one today.

www.partyplatypus.com

This is where you will find stuff I do, stuff my friends do, and stuff my friends and I do together.

Feel free to listen, comment, suggest, write in ideas, possibly even contact me to become a contributer. I want quality funny content... and I am always looking for more stuff to put on the site. I am trying to figure out a good hosting solution for audio stuff, and right now I am liking podbean, especially the embeddable mp3 player I can put right in the blog. (most of my things are around 10-15 minutes)

Well, enjoy, and check back in the future for more. I am trying to make this a weekly thing, and if you would like I can post to this thread when new ones get posted.

I would like to at least break even, or even get enough cash to get a higher volume hosting plan. So, not to sound like a street urchin... but... yeah.

(I asked Tom about posting this, it is all Kosher)

I await your responses!

Are the donations tax deductible?

Jon Rowe

I have no clue, I just popped that up there quick, I will get back to you.

I would doubt it, as I am not a non-profit org. This is donation to an individual.

Your voice makes me all atwitter, Jon.

Well done. :)

Nope. You'd need an IRS designation.

Jon, would you be up for doing a dramatic reading of me insulting you nonstop for like 10,000-20,000 words? Serious question!

Jon Rowe

Sure?

Dear Sir,

I read with interest the announcement of your new site. However, I refuse to visit said site until you consent to produce the script I submitted, "Was I Out of Line?", an adaptation by Tom Chick of a post by John Sansker. If you recall, "Was I Out of Line?" is a meditation on the eternal conflict between man and Gamestop employees, set in the context of a World of Warcraft discussion. I hope you will reconsider and produce my script forthwith.

Yours fondly,

-T. Wesley Chick

I actually have a copy of that still, I am planning on doing it in a future edition. But it will only be like 3 minutes, so I am waiting to stick it into a variety show with a bunch of little clips.

Hey Jon, didn't you once do a dramatic reading about some poster here on qt3 who was banned? I ask the question rhetorically, since I know you did. I though it was really funny and well done. Could you post in on your new site? Any chance you could do more like that one?

Yeah, that nutjob from Planetcrap who kept trolling people with a combination of piracy comments and sheer idiocy.

That was awesome, Jon, well done!

Jon Rowe
10-14-2009, 08:39 AM
It was Mario AU. But, I cannot find the mp3, and the hosting service I posted it on is now defunct.

Maybe an old qt3'er has it saved? I would love to get that back again!

(Actually... albert Woo has a copy) I will post it up as soon as I can.

Double Edit

Got it, editing in some music and fixing it up a bit. It will be around for next week's installment (tuesday!)

I hear podcasts are all the rage with the kids these days. These readings should be available via a podcast feed.

Jon Rowe
10-20-2009, 08:40 PM
Then nobody would go to the website :(

I just listened to the mario_au one in it's entirety. Well done, sir! I say to you well done!

And plenty of podcast people manage to get page hits or ad clicks or however people make a success out of the Internet. I don't know exactly how, but there are tons of podcasts out there. I would subscribe if this were a podcast.

Been busy. I have a concert this week and such, but yes, I do plan to continue.

Jon Rowe

So, new recording should be up this week. As well as a new venture that my colleague and I have worked on. A giant-bomb style endurance run, lets play type deal. Should be on youtube and the site by the end of this evening. I was waiting for my new mic, plus studying for the GRE.

We will be raiding Lara's Tomb. (I need a name for the segment, but this set is called "Lara's Adventures")(I am open to suggestions)

Also, the itunes feed should be working, so feel free to pick it up there. (the dramatic reading that is)

I won't post these any more. I will just post when I do the new readings each week.

Thanks for your support!

This week's Dramatic reading takes us to the comments section of a video about staying in school, and the first 5 of 20 of the top craigslist ads.

Here is the link, you can stream it right from the webpage, or if you have subscribed on iTunes, it should be available shortly (also, please rate me on itunes? Thanks for the support!)

Hey, so now that things are less hectic in my life.

I would like to do more of these, but I totally could use submissions.

So, I am calling out for help from my loyal listener. Send my way (via PM) or posting here, any forum posts, flameouts, or awesomeness that I should put voice to.

New one is up duders.

http://www.partyplatypus.com/2010/03/internet-masterpiece-theatre-edition-006/

Check that shit.

Avatar love poetry (http://www.avatar-forums.com/avatar-fan-art-fan-fiction/660-neytiri-love-poetry.html). Listen and weep. I had my good friend and roommate help me with this one as well. (He lurks here somewhere) give him props... I think he upstaged me.

Enjoy. (Itunes should have it shortly)

Also, Digg it up if you will.. maybe it will catch fire. (this one is awesome... I promise)

I've had a concept I've been toying with for a while, Jon, that may work well for you. In the past, I used to get these wild spam messages that were composed of bits and pieces of text cut from God knows what. When you put them all together, it almost read like Beat poetry.

So, I saved some of the choicest bits and was thinking of setting it to bongo. This has been on the back burner for years.
