Adorable.

What is it that makes our brains go "Aww, cute, a (human) baby," "Look at the kitty!" and "GET LOST BABY AND KITTY! MILK TEEF! SQUEEEEE!"

If you're going to visit shit like Cute Overload and CIHC, tromik, you need to learn to correctly spell 'kitteh'. I'm not sure why that makes it cuter, but apparently it does. I imagine baby should also be 'behbeh' or something.

Oh, that's totally how I pronounced it in my head, too.

This has been studied by psychologists, actually. It seems that the proportions of baby and baby animal faces (e.g., big eyes, rounded faces) are designed to elicit a caring response from many mammalian species, humans included. The prevalent theory is that it's one more mechanism to elicit attention, food, etc. from caregivers.

I could dig out a reference, if you're wanting to track down the real article(s).

This was my limited understanding as well.

Yeah, it's overdone. I mean, it's still cute, but it's like drinking a glass of molasses. It's still sweet at the last drink, but you ain't enjoying it.

This is exactly the sort of thing that Anne Geddes would be producing if people had the common sense not to let her anywhere near human children.
