Seriously, I doubt there has ever been a cooler executive of a country:

Did people my age in the 60s feel the same about Kennedy?

I love how when you first here Obama saying "hey!" in that video, the reporter asking the question looks absolutely starstruck, as though his favorite rock star had just walked in.

How often do presidents do press conferences in the White House press gallery?

He has that dorky expression on his face long before the "hey".

That video is so incomplete. The Prez banters with Gibbs more about how awesome the view is.

That's even more funny when you realise that's the FoxNews guy :)

He's totally awesome. At the tender age of 37, I'm having my first mancrush. Ever.

Ah, great video.

Makes me realize how torn my feelings are about this administration. I really like Obama, but I don't care for many of the democrats and others that surround him in the White House.

That is so fucking staged.

The white house knew it wanted to make a statement about Souter, but they hadn't had final confirmation yet. If they'd gotten word earlier Obama would have probably just made a statement to the media, but as it was Gibbs already had delayed the press conference 30 minutes. So, it wasn't so much staged as a humorous way of dealing with an event they couldn't precisely set in the schedule ahead of time.

Its the White House, of course there was some planning.

Or better...what Hugin said.

No the president just wanders wherever he wants.

But still it has the quality of a "surprise" concert of some good band. Like when Pearl Jam shows up and does a concert for 4000 people and tickets go on sale the day before. It's not completely unplanned but it really surprises the fans.
