View Full Version : Best 40oz to get?
My friend is turning 40, having his party at 4:00 on April 4th.
So I'm going to get him a 40oz.
Any recommendations on the best 40oz to get?

You must choose, but choose wisely. (http://www.40ozmaltliquor.com/40ozarchive.html)

If you're thinking in terms of "best," you're not in the right mindset to buy a forty.
Forties must be purchased on the sole criterion of cheapest. If you're really feeling fancy, you might calculate %alcohol/price, but that's as far as it goes.

Black Label
You mean 'America's Lusty, Lively Beer!' .. at least that's what they have on it down here! (just double checked and they've changed it sometime recently)
And if you're going to have a black label, it has to be a quart, drank warm, in the sun ;)

The answer's always waiting at the liquor store.

Drink it like a madman yes I do

I had this stuff called King Cobra one time. Malt liquor truly is awful. Not so much when ice cold, but man, when it warms up . . .
Now, not all 40s oz. beers are malt liquor. Maybe get him something that's a 40 but is a decent beer?

I think it's clear that "Mickey's" is the only correct answer.

When I think 40, I always think Olde English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_English_800), myself.
But yeah, if you think about it, you're approaching it the wrong way. The right way is to walk into your local bodega (7-11 equivalent) and buy the cheapest one they have, then drink it straight out of the bag!

As a seasoned 40 drinker, I would recommend Colt 45. However, the key to "enjoying" any 40 is to get it really cold and then drink it really fast. If you can down it in under 15 minutes, it may not get piss-warm and you'll get really drunk.

A friend of mine in college somehow got a 64 case of Mickey's 7 oz bottles in college for really cheap. They were not bad when slammed down really cold. For months our ritual was to gather on Sundays and watch the new Babylon 5 episode and drink Mickey's.
Man, there were some good times had in college. FOR NERDS!

It's all about the motherfucking ICE 800 with the bad ass black panther on the cover. That stuff is the best and worse of malt liquor

Back when I used to drink 40s, I always preferred to run with the bull: Schlitz Malt Liquor ICE.

St. Ides, Private Stock, Colt 45 for malt liquor.
Black Label if you want regular beer in 40oz form.

The only good 40oz is the one you pour out "for your dead homies".

From that list, Four O (http://www.40ozmaltliquor.com/archive/fouro.html) seems to be the obvious choice. It's not like taste matters, nobody's going to drink it, right?

I Lol'd pretty good at this one.
Colt 45 is the way to go.

Wow, they make High Life 40s? I'd definitely go with that for the old college feel. We were living it up back in those days I suppose. (Plus free local microbrew beer on Thursdays!)

Yeah, I think you can still get them depending on where you go to the liquor store.
Personally, I'd go with a well chilled Schlitz Malt Liquor Bull (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/106/3160) (brown paper bag wrapping optional); possible aperitif's include an equally chilled bottle of Night Train (http://www.ghettowine.com/nighttrain/nighttrain1.html) or for the real conissour some M-D 20/20 (go with the classy neon blue (http://www.ghettowine.com/maddog/current/blueraspberry.html)).

C45 was the big leagues. I remember when I thought I was ready to step up to the plate. I remember showering and downing the first one. Man, the taste ... it was so ... harsh. Hit the second one on the way to the bar and that's the last thing I really remember. Peeps were looking at me differently the next week at school.

Really Colt 45 and Black Label? They're cheap but dear god are they disgusting. If you buy them make sure to get a lemon to jam in there.
The best 40 is the cheapest 40. Free is even better.
