A notice on the old message boards about the new message boards might be nice. The front page was dead for a long time and people may have had only the message boards bookmarked.

The problem is that those boards are broken for posting.

At least some sort of change to the HTML -- as in "CHECK OUT THE NEW BOARDS AT ..." is probably a good idea. ... because i had only the /boards page bookmarked as well

This new board doesn't appear to be setup properly either. Go to the administration panel and under General Admin -> Configuration, make sure Cookie Domain is www.quartertothree.com and Cookie Path is /, and Cookie Secure is Disabled.

Mark,

Could you redirect the old www.quartertothree.com/boards URL to the new www.quartertothree.com/phpBB2 URL? Then maybe archive the old messageboard at www.quartertothree.com/oldboards or something similarly catchy...

Then again, I know nothing about Discus or phpbb, so...

1. fix the cookies or whatever so autologin works.
2. any way to make bigger the default page limit before it batches posts and moves them to the next page? I'd sacrifice a little load speed for all the extra clicking to page 2s and 3s

I'll look in to all this stuff. Unfortunately, I'm something of a retard when it comes to this stuff.

At least we have emoticons! :D :P

Mark, if you want me to set it up, it'll take me about 15 minutes. Erik can vouch for me. Just mail me at [email protected]

Until the redirect gets set up, I'm thinking it might be nice to change the "boards" sidebar link on the main page to take you to the new boards as well. Maybe send the old boards to "archives" or something?

Is this one of those boards where we can have different titles appear next to the username of posters?
Example: 1-50 posts: normal user, 50-100 posts: loser, 100-200 posts: ultra-loser; 200-300 posts: hardcore gamer, 300+ posts: furry

In memory of the late Might and Magic series, I propose Goober for the seond category and Super Goober for the third category.

We used PHPbb for our developer's board, and one other feature I'd suggest implementing is the ability to disable guest posting.

Requiring registration with a real email account keeps the troll activity down a bit...

We prefer to leave it wide open. If things get out of hand, we might go to a registration system at some point, but it would be a last resort. The last thing we want to do is police the boards.

So how did that work out Mark?

Well that was a completely pointless act of thread necromancy.

Yeah what were you doing, jellyfish? Surfing 7 year old threads for fun?

The only interesting thing about this thread is the proportion of "Anonymous" (ie, banned) former posters. Otherwise, yeah, pointless.

Anonymous doesn't indicate a banned user, it indicates someone posting anonymously which QT3 used to allow.

Ah, my mistake. I didn't remember that. I'll rephrase my statement to "completely pointless".
