I voted! Even got an awesome deluxe sticker with the Presidential Seal which states: "I voted. 2008. Presidential election." My coworkers who already voted in the burbs only got the old checkmark "I voted" sticker they usually use. I gloat at them with much gloatiness. Man, I'm beat. Long wait, rain, cold...don't know how the older folks or people who forgot umbrellas held up but I only saw one person leave the massive, multiblock, line.

I voted early, about this time of day 7 days ago. The wait then was 30 minutes at the County Board of Elections downtown (near my work). The wait this morning at the polling place near my home (a church they convert to service the entire district) was reportedly well over an hour. I expect it will be much worse this evening when I would have voted, as even in the last Presidential Election there was a 2 hour wait for after-work voting there.
I still have my "I voted" sticker on my jacket, I planned to proudly display it throught the end of the day along with my smug satisfaction of having thwarted the long lines by voting early. =)

Damn. The one downside to the California vote by mail system: no sticker. I guess I could have kept the envelope and just dropped it off at any polling place. I did that one year walking by approximately a kajillion people who all gave me the stink eye as they waited in line.

My "I voted" sticker bears the message in english and spanish.
Voting itself should have been easy, but halfway through the third line I started feeling light-headed. Seconds later I had both hands clasped desperately over my mouth, vomit spraying from between my fingers as I bolted for the door. No grass in sight (stupid elementary schools) so I emptied the contents of my stomach onto the sidewalk outside the door...which was...spatter-y.
I am pregnant and all, but I haven't thrown up in over a month. Awesome timing for a reoccurrence, and not in the least bit humiliating. Mind you, I still voted. I told hubby we're planning every subsequent pregnancy around elections so I can avoid this in the future.

Just got back from voting. Walked to the polling place, stood in line for less than a minute (there was a dude already talking to the lady in my alphabetical section), voted, walked back. Total time: under an hour counting foot transit.

Oregon is almost all vote by mail, our Sec of State (is that the voting guy?) expects turnout to be 83% or so. Turnout is a bit low though through last Friday.
I'm hoping its just the Republican voters not voting. That would be bad news for Gordon Smith, and good news for ham-sammich-like Jeff Merkley.

Ding. Voted. Chicago suburbs. At 6:00 a.m. I was the 25th person in line; I was out by 6:25 a.m. First time using the swanky "dial-a-vote" electronic machines. I enjoyed it, but after you submit your ballot your selections roll up the front edge of the machine on this cash register-y tape. The tape rolls up so slowly that you have plenty of time to review the ballot of the previous voter. Not cool.
I work across the street from where the Obama rally is being held. The streets are locked down and pretty much abandoned. Officials are recommending businesses just shut down for the day. It's exciting.

Voted on the way in. Got there at 7:30, and while the H-L line was about 50 people, the M-T line was 3 (and that's the line I was in). So I was out in maybe 10 minutes, tops.
My polling place didn't have any electronic machines this year; in prior years it's been a bout 90% paper and 10% electronic, but they seem to have ditched the machine(s) here for this election.
Everyone at work noted very short waits (in the NoVa suburbs), which surprised me.

Two and a half hours. Forget the Precinct number but it's a community center a couple blocks from Church Hill. I wouldn't be surprised to see my mug pop up on a couple blogs. While I didn't see any news folks there we did have folks with digital cameras taking long panning shots of the, impressive, line and one guy with a mic running around talking to people.

I voted this morning on the way to work and got my sticker. I've been voting since '92 and it's either been mechanical(levers) or electric(buttons with flashy lights). This year after dressing by candlelight and riding my horse to the poll they hand me a sheet of paper and a pen. WTF? Polling places aren't supposed to go backward in technology.
It wasn't quite that bad, the paper was a kinda modified scantron sheet and I got to feed it into a machine that thanked me for my vote but still, it was just weird to be filling it out manually.

Mike - I generally voted against bonds this year, too (given the f-ed up California budget), but when reading about 12, it said that the bonds are paid back by the veterans as they pay off their loans, and that the state only pays if they default. So for fiscal reasons it's a good exception to the bond rule. And veterans do often get the shaft, so it's a good exception for that reason too.

You know what else?
I cried.
Cried like a little baby.
Almost did it right there in the voting booth, before I even filled in the circle next to the presidential selection of my choice, but managed to hold it in until I got to my car.
I'm tired, yes. But I realized that something magical is happening today.
Today, we live in a nation where a Presidential candidate is not judged by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.
Millions of people are showing up to voting booths, and what's on our minds are the war, the economy, health care and immigration. We're not saying we like McCain because we can't handle a n***** president, or that we like Obama because we'd like to have a black president. Oh sure, some people still are. Some people believe the Earth is flat still, too! But for the most part, the issues that are actually affecting us are far more important than our prejudices.
It's awesome.
I just got back to work. The wait was only about 5 or 10 minutes. My voting location was at a community college, and there was some student telling the people he knew that they couldn't vote if they didn't have their voter registration card with them. After he told 5 or 10 people, some of whom left, I told him he was wrong. He said that was what somebody told him.
When I got up to the front, they weren't requiring the voter cards.
Anyway. I voted a straight Libertarian ticket, abstained from any votes that didn't have a Libertarian candidate, and voted No on all ballot propositions.

I voted, right around 8 a.m. (two and a half hours ago). the place where I vote is traditionally a sleepy low-turn out joint. If I'm doing the math right (dividing the number on the machine where you feed your ballots by the number of ballots), I was the 68th person to vote that morning.
Despite feeling cautiously confident, I am feeling pretty anxious, almost like when the night before I leave on a big trip. I'm hoping it's the anxiety of "this is almost in our reach" and not "this is going to be close enough to get stolen."
Damn I wish my district had more ballots. All I got was some provision to take 0.25% more income taxes to "save" the open land in the township... I voted No, fuck them, there's nothing to save except a couple of grassy hills.
Obama/Biden of course
Line was long until I saw that it was the A thru L line... my M thru Z line was a LOT shorter and it took about 5 minutes. Suckers.

I voted, and as with everything in Jersey City it was a clusterfuck. I figured I'd go in late to work to avoid the worst lines, but even at 10:00 I had to wait an hour because they had three lines, one for district 15 that I'm in that wrapped around two blocks, and one each for districts 13 and 14 that didn't have a single person in them.
I voted. We do absentee ballots in my county, but have voting drop off places. I went down to the local library (which is the drop off location) and was astonished at how many people were there. Even though it takes only seconds to drop your ballot off and grab a sticker, there was a hefty line and dozens of plastic boxes filled with votes. Lot of excited people. Our stickers were nicer than the little checks, it's a big square with a flag on it, with We The People in formal script at the top, and "I voted today" at the bottom.

I voted a week ago, via mail. No sticker for absentee ballots, but I consider it a fair trade for not having to stand in a fucking line for six goddamned hours, as some of my friends had to do for early voting. Here in Florida, we had the fun of voting not just for President, but also for a proposed amendment even more draconian and fucking ridiculous than California's Prop. 8 - Prop 2, which says, and I quote...
"In as much as a marriage is the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife, no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized."
Not just banning Gay Marriage (which was already banned, making it a double ban) but also civil unions. Of course, I'm sure there was no bigotry or hate behind the campaign to get this on the ballot - just pure cold-blooded cynicism, since putting votes for measures to beat up on homosexuals is one of the best ways to get angry fundamentalists to the voting booth, here in Florida.
There was only one noteworthy initiative in Washington this time around. It basically allows terminally ill adults to get an overdose to kill themselves. I voted yes.

I voted no on removing the loss limit in casinos* and on making English the "language of all governmental meetings" and so forth. I voted yes on requiring investor-owned electric utilites to purchase from renewable energy sources. There were a couple more banal propositions as well that I won't try to explain, and I split my vote on them.
*and a whole bunch of other ridiculous shit. In addition to repealing the loss limit, the proposition would prohibit any future loss limits, disallow the construction of new casinos, and increase the gambling tax. I hope this thing goes down in flames, because it's basically a giant check to the Missouri casino industry, disguised as something that would increase funding to schools, which it almost certainly would not actually do.

Please don't stereotype all men based on your personal experiences. Some of us are perfectly capable of carrying a fetus to term.
Oh, and I voted! So did my wife!

I voted:
Pres: Obama/Biden
Senate: Levin
House: Fred Johnson (http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/can_give/2007_H8MI02097) (vs. Pete Hoekstra (http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/can_give/2007_H2MI02066)) -- links are to PAC contributions for the two candidates; compare and gnash your teeth, lefties!
State-wide proposals:
1: Legalize medical marijuana -- yes
2: Legalize embryonic stem cell research -- yes
County proposals:
1: Nudge property taxes up to fix roads -- yes
2: Continue to prohibit alcohol sales on Sundays -- no
(Yes, I live in a verrrry conservative county)

I voted this morning in Cambridge, MA. No line, 5 minutes in and out. Some of my colleagues waited up to 2 hours. We're at a 2 day "retreat" today for my institution (the Broad institute), and the head's closing comments were a GOTV call.
Obama/Biden
No on repealing income tax
Yes on stopping dog racing
Yes on limiting criminalization of marijuana ($100 fine instead of screwing someone over.)
Mass is pretty tame.

I voted. Took just over an hour in line at 7:30 this morning, which was about half as long as I waited back in 2004. Afterwards, I did some canvassing for Obama (checking to see if undecideds had voted, mainly), and talked with a number of folks who voted one way or the other. In general, folks seemed pretty happy -- including the McCain voters. We'll see if that's true tomorrow.

I voted in rural Middleburg Virginia. The polls were quiet, the party flacks manning tables outside were either chatting quietly or dozing.
The only ballot measure that raised my interest was a 4% tax on groceries intended to pay for schools. I thought that sounded like a horrible idea and I voted against it.

No lines at my polling place. Just a few observers hanging out. A couple people showed up after I started the voting process. One was an elderly lady who was brought to the polling place by her daughter. The daughter was busy wrangling three kids between the ages of 1-5 while mom was doing her duty. I thought that was cool to see.

gore, kerry, and now obama. for the first time in my life, i voted for the winning candidate for president.
also voted against a constitutional convention for the state.
I voted! I won't bore you with my county's local politicians...
Ballots:
* 1A - California High Speed Rail Bond. S.B. 1856. - Yes - have you ever taken the bus? It sucks
* 2 - Treatment of Farm Animals. Statute. - No. Cows should move around, but I don't care if the chickens don't get to fly. Also increased meat prices -> bad for economy.
* 3 - Children's Hospital Bond Act. Grant Program. Statute. - Yes because I like children
* 4 - Waiting Period and Parental Notification Before Termination of Minor's Pregnancy. Constitutional Amendment - No, wtf?
* 5 - Nonviolent Offenders. Sentencing, Parole and Rehabilitation. Statute - No because I couldn't find my dictionary to look up half these words.
* 6 - Criminal Penalties and Laws. Public Safety Funding. Statute - No - see 5
* 7 - Renewable Energy. Statute. - No
* 8 - Defines marrige as "Between a man and a woman." without eliminating any rights. Initiative Constitutional Amendment. - No
* 9 - Criminal Justice System. Victims' Rights. Parole. Constitutional Amendment and Statute. - No - see 5
* 10 - Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Renewable Energy. Statute. - Yes - What if I buy a Prius next year? Incentive!
* 11 - Redistricting. Constitutional Amendment and Statute. - No - see 5
* 12 - Veterans' Bond Act of 2008. S.B. 1572. - Yes - this way at least the veterans can afford their homes/farms/trailers, if no one else can.
Measure E - Santa Cruz City Clean Beach tax - No because it sounded poorly thought-out

I voted for Prop 2, not because I give a crap about the animals' welfare, but because in my experience, animals that live a healthier lifestyle taste better. And it's more important to me that we have quality in our meat than quantity.

Pretty efficient operation in our little town in Maine. Strangely enough all of the candidates for town council were lining the walkway on the way into the polling place, meeting and/or greeting. This was a little odd for me, but apparently it is a tradition up here. Voting was by optical scanner, and there were plenty of stickers. Hardly any wait at all at 6:30 PM.
Maine has a few ballot initiatives as well - one to allow a casino to be built, one repealing a tax on sodas, beer and wine, and a bond issue. The soda tax is quite remarkable, as the tax money is specifically earmarked for a health care program for low income folks. There has been a lot of money from away spent to repeal the tax, and every fast food restaurant in town seems to have a sign up advocating for the repeal. Personally it seems a little disappointing, as the tax is really pretty modest for what seems like a good use of tax dollars.

I have voted. Apparently, turnout in Orange County is weak today. Lame! On the plus side, there was zero line at my polling place at 4:30 PM, which meant I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Woot!
We've got a lot of CA people here. Didn't realize that. I voted No on most of the propositions, including 8. I'll be curious to see how they turn out -- I expect 2/3/4/8 to be close.

If the Presidential election is called before the CA polls close (which could happen) hopefully the conservatives who are likely to vote yes on 8 will stay home.

I voted this morning around 10 AM. No line, so the only wait I had was about 30 seconds while the people there called someone to make sure I was registered properly because for some reason I got two cards and was listed on the registry twice. Sadly I didn't get to vote twice.
I voted for Obama and against an amendment that would require English to be the language of any official state meetings, just because.

I voted (Del Mar Heights area of San Diego) at 10:30 am. Absolutely no line, in and out within 5 minutes. The polling station was the theatre of a local school and while I was inside casting my vote a little girl came on over an intercom and announced that Barack Obama had won the election over John McCain, 300-something to 100-something... turns out they had a mock election at the school today.

I got there at like 6pm, and the only person I had to wait behind was this crazy Asian lady who was hogging all the pens. Like, all of them. It was crazy. Then they took down my info and handed me my very own personal electronic voting card looking thing. I clicked on the button for The Bammer and some other people, turned in my card and got my Peach "I Voted" sticker. Then I made some plans with a cute poll worker. Then I went home and shot some people in FO3!
I have to say, I've never seen people so cheerful and excited about voting. When I voted in 04, everyone seemed depressed and bored and stuff. All the poll workers were old and kind of smelly. This time I don't think there was but one poll worker over the age of 50. Heck, when I volunteered to do a couple of shifts earlier in the week they turned me down because they had too many people!
Well done America!

I spent the year educating people on it. CA has a great system for it, it's not even called absentee anymore because that implies you might have to explain your reason to vote by mail. They don't care, they want you too now, it's cake to sign up for permanent vote by mail status.

Tried to vote at 7AM, but they had the lines for last name broken up by letter and G-L had a long line while A-F and M-S were empty. Waited half an hour, gave up, went to work. Came back at 5:40 PM, and there was nobody in line. That was nice. Voted for Bob Barr because the election had already essentially been called for Obama, and it was never in doubt which way Hawaii was going anyway.
Voted here in Nassau County, NY at 6:45am. About a 10 minute wait. It all went smoothly.
You gonna save us the suspense, Dirt? Who did QT3's most indecisive attention-seeker vote for?
Cynthia McKinney.
There was no line at the church where I voted, I got to a booth in about a minute. No surprise, I live in a predominantly Hispanic city; judging by what I have read about this city (I've only lived here for about a year), a very large portion of the people here are illegal immigrants. I turned away, put my left hand over my eyes and I voted for that one.
