Dear Santa Bethesda:
For Christmas I want a downloadable content pack that adds more songs to Galaxy News Radio. The same sort of early/mid-century jazz/blues/torch songs as it already has, I just want more of them. Please take my CASH MONEY and deliver that KTHXBAI.

Seconded. Or give me the ability to add my own music to a folder like the GTA games.

Thirded. And is it just me, or does Roy Brown's "Butcher Pete" seem incredibly creepy and sinister in the context of this setting? I swear, every time that song comes on, I get the shivers.

I love the score so much that I haven't messed with the radio much yet. That, and I'm too afraid of rad scorpions to play anything that loud. :(

Oh, good question: do your enemies actually hear the radio? It seems to me that they don't, but I'm not sure.

As far as I can tell: no. My character is very stealth-focused, and having the radio on doesn't seem to affect whether or not they detect you. I guess the PipBoy must come with headphones.
The downside is that it does make it harder for you to hear things. If you have it on while you are trying to sneak around, you really need to keep an eye out for contacts on the compass.

I was under the impression that enimies did hear your music.

I'm not 100% sure if they can hear the music, but as Ben said, it definitely takes my hearing down a notch. It makes it easier for wasteland critters to get the drop on you.

I just turn the radio off when I'm out in the wastes, unless I need some soothing company against the ghouls in the metro. But that's what Dogmeat's company is for!
Also, the ambient music is incredibly creepy.

AFAIK the only thing PipBoy related that affects stealth is the flashlight function...

Never having heard this song before I really enjoy it when it comes on the in-game radio now. Several of these songs are great. I hope there are more to come in the DLC.

Seconded. Its really the first I've ever heard of the song, but it weirds me out. I can't tell if its about adultery, cannalbilism or both.

I wonder why there's no music folder. They had one for Oblivion, of course. I haven't even looked at the directory structure.

I have the steam version, and in the main Fallout 3 folder there is a directory called "data" that contains a music folder. There are mp3s for the various music in there.

I wouldn't mind more music for Enclave radio and more talky bits for both.

I have a feeling I'm going to end up putting the "Deb of the Night" programs from Bloodlines in there.
I wonder how much scripting control there is over the radio stations? Might be fun to set up a whole programming schedule.

I hope someone makes a Dangerfield (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Bloodmoney#Characters) mod.

Hell, throw Sean Kennedy a few bucks and get him to record some Fallout specific episodes of Afternow (http://www.theafternow.com/). The Rachael's Mutt kind, obviously, not the present day stuff or bits about the evils of media companies.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the incredible non-radio music. Really great score.

I don't know, some of the overworld themes seemed either ripped or heavily influenced by Oblivion. Maybe they were trying to remind you of the lush environments to emphasize what was lost in the war, but it just distracted me.

I didn't get that feel at all. In fact I feel like the overworld music is incredibly ... Fallout-y? I wonder at a few points if it's not lifted directly from the original series.

Yeah, I'm probably just hearing things. I don't know why I can't shake that feeling.

I would also like to see more music added, but I'm sure it's a licensing thing. Every song you hear, Bethesda had to pay someone for it. Which probably explains why you hear the Fallout title song but not the Fallout 2 title song.

To be honest, I would love more songs. When I have to walk for ten minutes through an empty wasteland, the chatten keps me from getting bored.

I also thought this was going to be about the game's incidental music. There's one menu song that I swear is the love theme from The Terminator.

Maybe they just skipped the middle man and licensed Brian Eno's Music for Films.

Well, this is *kind of* the answer. This thread at Something Awful (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2998807) is collating Fallout 3 mods, and the OP has a method for putting your own music into the game. Seems a tad onerous to me, but if you really want your own songs, this might be the only way to do it until the mod construction kit arrives.

The music isn't the only great thing on the radio: I just listened to a short radio action drama about Herbert "Daring" Dashwood and his Ghoul manservant, Argyle. I was laughing so hard, I accidentally let a raider kill me with a shot to the face.
I also like how Three-Dog's news segments often give you tips on where to go looking for action. Cool stuff.

I love the speeches given by the President John Henry. Malcom McDowell's voice is so dreamy. Kind of reminds me of Brother Justin's radio sermons in Carnivale.
