I apologize for my inability to link, but wtop.com is reporting on a flier circulating around Virginia that states Democrats should vote on the 5th, and Republicans should vote on the 4th. The flier has the Board of Elections logo on it and from the story apparently it cites a special legislative move as the reason.
Post your local stories here, folks!

While I was waiting in line to vote today, a young man offered me a sticker from Pat McCrory, the Republican cadidate for governor of North Carolina. When I declined, he politely smiled and moved on the next person. When that person mentioned his opponent, Bev Perdue, the young man smiled and said, "Yea, both of them are really excellent candidates."
And then some girl asked me to sign a petition about green energy and jobs and stuff.

Wow, sounds like a mess down there.

There were some calls in the area by an unknown group pretending to be representatives of the Obama campaign, and if you gave enough personal information, they claimed to let you register your vote on the phone, rather than at a poll or by absentee ballot.
And what's even weirder, is that all the calls were only to Spanish speaking voters.

Yea, I also forgot to mention that the entire process only took 20 minutes.

Wow, this is what makes news on P&R? Not like, I dunno the house full of out of state/country students in Ohio registering other out of state/country people to vote early in Ohio for Barack Obama?
Or ACORN giving homeless people food as long as they agree to vote for Obama?
Or ACORN registering a fish?
THIS IS WHAT MAKES NEWS HERE??

You forgot to mention the part where the funky ACORN registrations don't actually translate into fraudulent votes.

No electioneering laws around there?

Also the part where the power of the hivemind leaps out of your computer monitor and physically prevents you from making these threads you claim to want to see, Bob.
People voting for their own self interests, news at 11.
In other news, democracy has a well known liberal bias.

There was point about 20 yards from the building after which no campaigning was allowed. The line stretched a good 100 yards beyond this point. I'm sure this sort of thing gets abused, but the majority of the campaigning going on was for the non-partisan judges along with a reminder that there was a back side to the ballot and please don't forget to fill it out. The people campaigning were all as non-intrusive as could be. They were far less annoying than the two middle-aged ladies behind me who kept chanting "Drill, baby, drill!"
