Why do people wear them? Nobody on Earth has ever looked good with one, and it's a popular choice among the mall skanks.
In case you're confused, it's that thing where you take some hair in the center and take it up and back, as if you're Johnny Bravo. I see constant mention that "Nobody ever looks good with that hairstyle" on red carpet fashion commentary, yet every female celebrity has had one within the last 8 years. And in the same breath, they're called stylish and trendy.
Yay or nay, voice your opinions on hair shelfs/head clams!

There's probably good reason the words are so similar.

It is me or does it look a bit, i dunno, feminist lesbian?

I would say they're both as sexually appealing.
I see a girl wearing that, I lose all desire. Jessica Beil could be naked and jumping, but if she had one of those it's all I'd see. Just a big warning that says "MALL SLUT, MALL SLUT, DO NOT ENGAGE MINES DETECTED."

Johnny Bravo.
OH MY GOD. What ever happened to Johnny Bravo anyways? That show was seven kinds of awesome.

Dunno, but if I ever see Johnny Bravo DVDs, I'm all over them.

I might be persuaded to make an exeption if it was Jessica Biel.

The two girls on the right of that image block look like they spent the last days of the war in Hitler's bunker.
Also, I'd say the Floridian mane is the mullet for this decade. Which I just happen to have. Of course I live in Canada and play hockey so it's pretty natural.
They're a super easy way to style unruly hair, and get it out of my face. I don't see the problem.

What's the Florida mane?

I don't care for it, personally. It isn't flattering to my facial structure.
My little sister looks cute as hell with it though.

Modern hockey hair.

If it's done right it seems just fine.

Is this a quiff? Because I always hated this girl's hair in GTA IV.

Her knees are way too sharp also.

Convenience and fashion are completely different issues. It would be even easier if you just shaved your head, but that doesn't mean it would look better.

It counts, El Guapo.
No wonder I never messaged her. Sure she could have gotten me out of trouble but really, I'd have never gotten anywhere on a date.
"Uh...that's a shelf on your head, miss. Can I keep my drinks there?" my Niko would ask. And then get slapped.

Really? Cause that's totally why I cut my hair really short -- it's both convenient and I think it looks good -- and why I'm growing it out now to go with my soon-to-be chubby face.

Luckily not all women are looking to sexually attract you, so it all works out.

Fuck. That explains a lot.

Great. If you like the way it looks, that's fine. In your previous post you seemed to be suggesting that the convenience was what made it worthwhile.

I wonder, perhaps there's a big gender gap on this one.
Women like it because it's simple and they think it frames their face nicely. Men think it just looks like there's something sitting on someone's head to them.
Scarlett Johansen is distressingly fond of this monstrosity.
You know what's easier AND better-looking? Just pull it back into a ponytail.

Yeah, she seems to love it, and I can't decide why. It's the only thing that makes her look bad, ever. But I think the best option is almost always just smooth hair laying naturally at whatever length and curl(nothing wrong with a braid or tails or whatever to me though). Some people look better long or short or straight/waved/curled, but up hairstyles and fancy doings usually just look weird to me.
Maybe the overall theme of this thread is my opinion that natural is better than fancy?

I hit high school hormones when the Bangs Of Steel Wool were popular, so I can't really quibble with the quiff.
Of course that was also the heyday of the mullet. The late 80's/early 90's were a dark time.

Did Tintin have one or was that just a curl?
