The story is that I think the server has always been using the internal vbulletin search instead of the fulltext searching. I base that upon the fact that this huge index is totally missing and I sure as heck didn't drop it. So there's a chance this will solve all our problems, just in time for the start of the jewish new year tomorrow. Mazel tov!

Why are you bringing politics into this? Both vbb and fulltext indexing are completely valid search strategies.
