Watch out, Supreme Court

At first I thought this business of Pat Robertson praying for three USSC justices to retire was just a joke. Then I read this interview with him, and found out that he was personally responsible for the downfall of the Soviet Union (http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/07/17/cnna.robertson/index.html). Yikes!

The most confusing part of the interview for fundamentalists, I suspect:

ZAHN: Would it be in your judgment and your definition of prayer, equally appropriate for you to pray for a change in the Constitution that wouldn't allow for a life term on the bench?

ROBERTSON: The possibility of getting a Constitutional amendment of that magnitude through both houses of Congress on a two-thirds vote and then through three quarters of the state legislatures is virtually impossible. I can't understand it.

So there's no point in praying for something that isn't politically feasible? He uses this same logic later in the interview. Nice to hear that God believes in the separation of powers to. Wouldn't want divine intervention into the legislative process.

Worse thing is, I was channel surfing and caught that prayer drive. My jaw hit the floor and I was actually stunned for a moment. It's scary to even consider what these fanatics in "Christian" clothing would do to this country, if they had their way. ~Shiver~

It kinda almost makes you wish the really IS a Hell, just so you can go up to Robertson and Falwell when you get there and go "hah, bet you didn't expect to be HERE, did ya?"

It just bothers me when people don't understand the "checks and balances" principle of the Constitution and want to eliminate any possible opposition to their "oh so ordained" agenda's. The SUSSC, if anything, helps protect us from the tranny of so-called majority.
