Pelosi handled it great, but Hoyer blew it. Yeah, calling your opponents dumb is the ticket, has worked real well for us in the past.

Fuck. And people call Hillary a bitch?

All those comments about how the price of oil dropped when Bush started talking about drilling-- do these people not realize that the price of oil is still way higher than it was a year ago?

It was under $80 a year ago! Are these nuts happy with 40% inflation of a major commodity?

To be fair, judging from budgetary and economic policy the past 8 years, math has not been the Republican party's core strength.

I doubt you can represent San Francisco w/out having the ability to handle yourself around protesters.

How can there be that many people who can't be bothered to look up estimates of the value of the amount of oil to be drilled? The comments go on for miles, and every one of them (I think, I just sampled down the page at high speed) has the same garbage response about how Bush mentioned it and prices went down tons, so OBVIOUSLY drilling will have even more value QED.

Commodities have been dropping across the board, and it has little to do with the gibberish of a moron, and everything to do with a raptor riding ninja general practitioner winning in a fight against Paul Bunyan.

500% or so since Bush took office.

You don't need to think when Hannity is doing it for you.

I find it very hard to believe that some people would, on their own, gather at a Dem press conference for something like "Drill Now!". I find it less hard to believe that someone put them up to it, especially in an election year.

Just a couple of years ago, people were talking about how it was insane--insane!--to think that oil would ever reach $60 a barrel. That sort of price was unheard of. Economists and pundits were all wondering how much higher than $60 it could go before it crashed our economy. Now we rejoice when it drops below $120.

Pelosi does that kindly grandmother schtick. I love it, personally.

Well, you know God bless him, bless his heart, the president of the United States, a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject, and for him to be challenging Congress when we are trying to sweep up after his mess over and over and over again.

Pelosi did okay, but I think the democrats need to drop the opposition to offshore drilling.

Regardless of the merits or actual benefits, it's just got too much traction with voters. The logic of "we need more oil, there's some there, let's drill for it", however specious, is too appealing to people.

Don't get me wrong, I'm personally opposed, but I don't think the issue is worth losing an election over.

Er... links for what? I'm not quoting anyone, I'm speaking from personal experience.

I thought Obama already said he'd be willing to allow offshore drilling if it came with an agreement to do something useful for our economy. Of course, considering the republican penchant for making up ridiculous lies to attack Democrats with, it doesn't really matter what his actual position is.

No they don't. Not only is new offshore drilling a moronic idea that won't benefit anyone except the global oil corporations that aren't loyal to any country, it goes against everything the Democrats believe in. Anyone with an ounce of sense knows that offshore drilling is this year's outrage issue, like immigration was last year and gay marriage the year before that. These fuckers are either plants or idiots that will promptly get distracted by the next outrage issue someone shoves down their throat.

Gay-marrying immigrant plants?

Damn those protesters exercising their rights!

DRILL THEIR BRAINS!!!

What a great comeback that was. I'm glad we have leaders capable of such intellect.

Heckling back at hecklers is a threat to free speech?

Based on your posting history I don't think you're qualified to properly gauge the intellect of a steaming turd, let alone another human being. I know it's an election year so your posting rate at Qt3 will triple last year's, but please crawl back under your bridge.

It's reached the point that Cherub's posts are so abstract and hair-brained that I can't even understand the extremist points he's trying to make anymore.

I'm sure that will convince him of whatever he already believes.

Heckling back at hecklers is definitely worse than setting up "First Amendment Zones" several blocks away where no one can see them.

Secretly, Pelosi has a team of scientists working around the clock to invent a car that runs on tuna.

Sadly, I've got to go with Bob here.

"Drill right here?" was a good response, as was "2 cents in 10 years'. But "can we drill your brains?" Seriously? And Hoyer's response was worse.

I'm in 100% agreement that offshore drilling is a non-issue drummed up by the right. I just don't think that liberals getting all excited when their politicians insult and alienate the right is helping us out any.

So, after the 2006 elections, it took nearly 3 months before Bob showed his face in P&R again. Anyone want to make a pool on how long it'll take Bob to come back after the coming landslide?
