What was Burger King thinking? (http://idea-sandbox.com/blog/2008/07/what-is-burger-king-thinking/)

Apart from offering body cavity searches in public, Burger King also see themselves like a brothel (http://adsoftheworld.com/media/print/burger_king_veg_city_red_light_district?size=_orig inal) where you can "have it your way".

That's just.....weird.

All of the ads in the series are fantastic. I love the subtleties, like the Onion's little goatee in the Airport one, the Veg News Network crew in the Sniper version, and the flush on the pickle's cheeks in the Red Light district ad.

European ads are always so much better than anything in North America. Whenever they have a "Best of advertising" show at the local repertory theatre, it's always the continental ads that dominate.

So, what's the author complaining about, exactly? The fact that BK understands that different markets have different marketing needs? I'd think that would be lauded by a creative marketing blog.

I'm so eating at Burger King today.

That's so awesome. I love that they're actually trying something different and even a bit edgy instead of going with the typical Middle America/uppermiddleclass/Disney/family themed bullshit. Anyway, that's Germany's Burger King. America's Burger King is all about CP+B's idea of the King as a date rapist/stalker.

Really funny. I've seen German ads about as messed up before, though. That country is weird, even by European standards :)

http://www.vegcity.de/ that's the advertising campaign site. It's actually pretty good.

Har har har the ad is funny, if, even for germany, a little bit heavy on sexism...

Awesome.

Unfortunately, my local BK has had issues. And by "issues" I mean pee running from the bathrooms above down into the kitchen.

Still. Awesome.

That's pretty awful, Respectfully Krise Madsen.

How could you eat at a place like that? I didn't think that sort of thing could occur in Denmark, of all places.

Hmm, I see my "name" still bugs people. I honestly don't know what to make of it. Yet.

Anyhew, yeah, pretty awful. Thing is, their burgers were much better than those of McD (right across the street). Now I wonder why...

It's the Qt3 way. You'll get used to it. You could also ask Tom to add the title "Respectfully" to your account, and voilą! Instant sig in the left column!

If you sign your posts, you're probably going to get some shit for it from time to time. Either learn to ignore it or trust people to read your name to the left of your post.

EDIT: And I got derailed from what I really wanted to post about, which was that the pickle cop pulling on the latex glove really reminded me of Freddy Mercury.

in my local Metro newspaper, there are often stories from Germany in the 'Stranger than Fiction' section(or whatever it's called).

I remember a story about a man who scared a neighbourhood in a small town as he practised 'primal scream therapy' in the nearby woods.

also something about an old woman who was also screaming in her apt and the police were called in. It turns out she was actually practising opera.

Those are all brilliant ads and anyone who disagrees is silly.
