View Full Version : Who's going to stop the Lakers next year?
Umm... no one! With the recent signing of Gary Payton and the soon to be signing of Karl Malone, who the hell is going to stop the Lakers? Lets see....
PG- Gary Payton
SG- Kobe Bryant
Center- Shaq
SF- ??
PF- Karl Malone
OMG.. what a line up. Can you imagine Shaq and Malone on the floor at the same time? Two frekin monsters.
Ha.. better enjoy that trophy Spurs, cause it aint going to be there for long.

They also drafted Luke Walton, who can play small forward and runs the floor well. I don't think he's star material, but he can get some minutes and help with that awesome fast break the Lakers will probably have.
This is going to be really nice for Shaq because he will be able to get more rest. He can probably knock 4-5 minutes a game off his average game.
Yeah, they look tough. I'm more interested in seeing what Lebron does, though. He looks like the real deal. He passes like Magic Johnson and he can drive to the basket and finish like the old Jordan.
Watching the Lakers isn't going to be any fun for anyone outside of Lakers fans.

The Pacers will win it all, of course. Bird's suiting up, right?
Yeah, the Lake show looks tough. And I agree with Mark, Shaq can take it easy during the regular season. Malone will have wide open 15 footers all year.

Karl Malone will not gel. Gary Payton is the man. Shaq will injure his fat ass in a Crunch bar commercial, Kobe will try to carry the team, but will have too many egos to have to deal with and will lose interest as he expects to leave after this year. The Lakers had their time and it is gone. They will lose in the Western Conference finals to Sacramento.

Only if Kenyan Martin stops being an unproductive pansy-ass.

Malone will have 10 ft jumpers all day when Shaq's on the floor.

I'm by no means a Lakers fan but the talent they have brought in along with Shaq and Kobe will be hard to beat. The ego of the Most Respected Thinker on this Board by Far may not be able to realize that but then what else is new?

I don't think Malone will be an ego problem. He just wants a championship. I think the same for Payton, plus he's going to get a lot of assists and get to read all year about how great he is at running the Lakers offense. He'll feed both Kobe and Shaq and keep them happy.
Malone can also run the fast break. The Lakers should be awesome on the break with Payton pushing the ball down on one side and Kobe on the other and Malone streaking down the middle.
This is like an Olympics Dream Team. If they stay healthy, no one should beat them. That's why it's going to be boring watching them.

People say the same thing about the Yankee's every year. They did have a great run but lost the last two years. Talent isn't all you need. I'll also say a healthy Kings team with Webber on his game can beat the Lakers.

You heard it here first: Antoine Walker wins the MVP award, and the Celts claim banner number 17. It's the Truth.

As a Celtics fan, I must agree with you. I like your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter. With the exception of Paul Pierce instead of Walker.

Antoine Walker is so overrated it's absurd. Did you SEE how Kenyon Martin 0wnz0red him last playoffs?
I'll give props to Paul Pierce, though. Just not Walker.

Who the hell cares? The important thing is that we're moving towards the Thrashers' year. And the Falcons, incidentially.

Well Kobe Bryant has been charged with one count of sexual assault and he has also admitted that he did have sexual intercourse with the woman who accused him of sexual assault.

So what do you guys think? Innocent or Guilty?

Crap. I have been really hoping she is just a gold-digging wannabe singer who was attempting to entrap Kobe. He is intelligent, well manneres, and a friggin' great player. If he admitted to doing the nasty, I am not sure I care any more.
Not that I want everyone riding a white horse and never straying from the goodie-goodie path, but is it asking too much for one person in the public eye to not break laws and cheat on their wife?

She's only 19, so if she's lying cause she's after money, she's advanced for her age.
I'm leaning towards Kobe being guilty of a kind of date-rape assault, and by that I mean not an overly violent attack, but him having her trapped in his hotel room and not taking no for an answer.
My guess is they'll plea-bargain it down to a lesser charge and he'll get probation, pay a big fine, and settle out of court with the girl before a civil suit is even filed -- unless the prosecutors are zealots. They have to know Kobe's lawyers will do everything they can to make the girl look like a tramp, and reports I read indicated that they flirted while Bryant was in the hotel.

After watching his press conference with his wife tightly holding his wallet..er, I mean hand and him saying how disgusted with and angry at himself he is, I have determeined that, yes, it is too much to ask that celebrities/sports stars not cheat on their wife and not break the law. He could still be "innocent", but I just do not care that much any longer.

He's had sex with 5 different women in the past year besides his wife. I bet they are going to receive some "good faith" checks in the mail.
Again...Dammit! I really liked Kobe. Now, I will have to settle for being excited about another Tabloid trial. War coverage, the economy, screw that what's up with [cue music] Kobe Watch 2003 (tm).
Maybe I would have fucked around, too, if I were him. 19 year old hot blondes are hard to say no to, but could he not have been a bit more discriminating. The girl at the front desk at the hotel!!! Was he too lazy to go out.
Stroker, I waited by the phone for your call all weekend. Wazzup!

my boss has this ongoing thing where he asks me to come to his bham apt. and set up a wireless network for him "this weekend", but he's yet to actually give me directions to his house... it's been a few months now.
about 33% of my weekends are tainted by fake trips to bham.
