This is pretty difficult for a first post, but I'll make it anyway. Please don't judge me based on my opinion here. I really believe in it, though, and I'd like some feedback on it.
I began following Cleve Blakemore's programming career in 1986, when Ahoy! magazine began regularly publishing his work. Ahoy! magazine was a very popular Commodore 8-bit computer magazine tailored to the general public (but with a TPUG/Compute!/Transactor technical spin).
Cleve produced, one after another, some of the finest games/utilities I have ever seen in a computer magazine (before or since). From The Last Ninja and Vault of Terror to Tomb of Horror and Lunar Buggy, Cleve stunned the entire Commodore community with not only his genius, but his amazing programming abilities as well.
I spent hours of my youth reading Ahoy! simply because of Cleve Blakemore. I studied his program listings closely. I devored his articles and wisdom thoroughly. Cleve single handedly inspired me to become a programmer (of which I am happy to say I am today because of him).
I have never met the man in person, but I have read some of his posts to Usenet (chiefly comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.rpg). Although I was a bit taken aback by some of his posts, I do believe Cleve is a good and decent person with tremendously gifted programming and literary skills.
I would appreciate a response from Cleve if possible, because I feel he is somewhat victimized by others and highly misunderstood. While Cleve does indeed have some strong views, I believe he is just being Cleve. I think strong viewpoints are important to him.
I hope he continues to program and I wish him well in his life and with Grimoire.
Sincerely,
Paul Panks

I feel the same way about Charlie Manson.

I can understand the amount of suspicion people may have of Cleve. In fact, it may even be a Cleve fakester. This may not even be the real Cleve Blakemore posting to quartertothree.com.
Sincerely,
Paul Panks

Bravo to all who exemplify the democratic process at work! So much for intelligent conversation, wry wit, or creative discourse.
Beware, Dunric076, and observe what happens to you when you deviate from the norm in these forums. If you do, you may be swept into bannishment by the broad brushes of hypocracy.

The main evidence that it's the real Cleve is that, a few days after an image of a character from Grimoire was posted here and roundly mocked, the Grimoire website was taken offline, making the image unviewable from this messageboard. It is the opinion of the High Court of Hypocracy that this act -- the swift removal of embarrassing evidence -- is in line with the personality of the deeply insecure egomaniac that "our" Cleve has demonstrated himself to be.

What's most amusing is watching all of Cleve's various personalities leap in to support himself.

Yeah, it's tough when you can't even have your alter ego seem somewhat subdued. I was more than a kid in the Commodore and Ahoy days, and I don't remember anyone in the community being all that aware of Cleve, ,much less "stunned"

How orwellian of you. For there are no other egomaniacs on these boards, save the judges of the high court.

You read my mind. Move on bmulligan, you are a stranger in a strange land surrounded by liberal drones who are perfectly happy circle-jerking themselves into oblivion whilst enjoying doggy pictures. Ignorance is bliss, and there are some really happy folks around here!

Oh, I don't know. I'd never kick Diane Lane out of my bed for eating crackers.
