As a counterpoint to the 'Heat from Hell' thread, I just read some reports that parts of Oregon are experiencing moderate snowfall with a forecast of 4-5 inches overnight. We had some isolated snow flurries up here in Vancouver Island yesterday and the weather has been threatening to turn cold for the past several days. It's the middle of June guys! If I didn't know better I'd think it was November.
And they say "global warming." Pssssshhhhh!

There was 7" of snow at Snoqualmie pass last night, which is the pass going east out of Seattle. That's only 3000 feet elevation. It's also the coldest start to the month of June in recorded history for the Seattle area.
And it doesn't disprove global warming, either. While overall global temperatures are expected to rise, how that affects the weather in different areas can vary greatly. For many areas it will destabilize weather to the point that normal seasonal patterns will not be as common and you'll see extremes and unusual stuff like we're seeing.

It's getting down to the mid 40s at night here on the valley floor. Add some elevation and snow is within the realm of possibilities. We've gotten a couple weekends of hot weather this year too, but it's unseasonably cold and wet for the most part. It's driving me nuts.

Driving you nuts? I ride a motorcycle year-round here in Seattle. This should be my happy time of the year- instead I rode home from work in a torrential downpour the other day, and haven't seen the sun in weeks. I had a extended roadtrip over Memorial Day- Seattle-Portland-Long Beach (WA)- Seattle over three days. The last leg (LB-Seattle) was so cold I had to stop 2/3 of the way home to defrost myself, and I'm really resistant to the cold from riding in it for the last 10 years.
This weather shit sucks.

Yeah it has been really cool here in LA too. I'm surprised we are not hitting 90+ every day. I'll take it though it makes for some fantastic days.

It's like the beginning of a disaster movie. I say we skip the tedious 2nd act and just nuke the Pacific already.
