View Full Version : Shaved, plucked or Natural?
Was at the bank yesterday and while the gal was reasonably attractive, I kept wondering what she would look like without her painted on eyebrows.
I can understand plucked as some woman can have bushy eyebrows, but shaving and painting them on every day?

My mother plucked her eyebrows entirely out as a youth. She painted them on every morning as far as I can remember: haven't seen her since I've been in college.
She kept trying to get me to pluck mine out too: I've kept my bushy eyebrows with pride.

I shaved my eyebrows for fun after getting my BS right before I started applying for job, and my parents went berserk on me tell me I look like an egg, how it would ruined my chance at a profession position, also that my eyebrows will take forever to grow back.
I landed a position after a few months and my eyebrows grew back in like a month of so, but I think for girls, definitely shave it if you sports a unibrow or extremely bushy one.

I chose plucked, but I definitely prefer to get the eyebrows waxed.

Agreed, but I think it's essentially the same thing, no? You're just letting the wax do the plucking.

Essentially, I guess... I just prefer to get them all pulled at once, rather than one at a time.
It does leave the skin rather sensitive for a few hours afterwards, though.

I somewhat enjoy plucking them, but waxing would definitely be neater. Maybe when I'm feeling really metro, I'll try that.

Other than rogue hairs or unibrow, girls should just leave their damn eyebrows alone. The equivalent would be for a dude to shave his beard and then magic marker one on. Painted eyebrows are gross.
Which kind of makes me think of the Miss USA pageant I caught last week, how every girl there was some strange elfine.. thing.. all elongated faces and thin arching brows that made them all look like they were used up porn stars or meth addicts. It's funny to me how they would choose some painted up anomaly as an example of USA's finest woman, when crass Axe commercials have natural beauties that are actually indicative of the women men want.

Someone will probably choose to interpret this as racist, but what the hell, it's funny--

I see eyebrow-plucking as being... lowbrow. It's up there with tramp stamps, nose rings and wearing pants a size too small so that one's belly rolls hang out over the edge.
It's worth adding that I'm not a big fan of shaved bush, either. In fact, when my S.O. asked me if she should shave her pits, I was kinda "meh."
Hair makes the body more interesting, more fun. It's supposed to be there. Why argue with 2 million years of human evolution?

Well except we've been evolving into using less and less hair. Maybe you're fighting against evolution? Hmmmmm?

So you're saying evolution has decided I need 30 or 40 thin little hairs on my back, but no hair on the top of my head where I regularily get sunburns. Good call, evolution.

Evolving over the past 20 years? That's not even one generation.
This is a fad, pure and simple. And one that doesn't affect me very much, so I can afford to think whatever the hell I want to about it. :)
I might shave my ass hairs, though. Usually not an issue when taking a dump, but those times when it is...

Don't worry about it, spiffy. As you get older, those 30-40 hairs on your back will get longer and will form into full communities of fur, until you have the long, flowing back-locks I have. And the shoulder pads. Dude, there's a reason clothing designers in history have put shoulder pads on outfits... it's all to mimic the regal and noble appearance of those shoulder fur-patches.

Only 30 to 40? And thin also? You lucky bastard.
Unfortunately evolution has left some of us behind in more ways than one. :(

Personally, i get mine waxed. Just a little. The problem with waxing, however, is that you are at the mercy of some dinky little chick with a "cosmology" degree who has been reading WAY too much Cosmo.
It's like living on the edge. One month i'm smashing, the next month i'm a freak.

I only opened this thread to say it would be incredibly painful to pluck pubic hair and waxing should be the third choice but then it was about eyebrows.

I don't understand why anyone would shave off their eyebrows. Unless you're Stone Cold Steve Austin, you've got no damn call for it. Just get them tweezed at a beauty salon if they're too bushy or something. It's not like the procedure costs anything.

We understand that these feelings are confusing. Go ahead and vent.
Edit: Maybe we should have a ban on hygiene or personal habits threads related to the body.

I'd also like to imagine that this was my reaction when I figured out how easy multiplication was. Thanks to the "Math as Art" thread, I've begun to think of math as being more than numbers to memorize. Understanding the concept of multiplication (X sets of Y or Y sets of X) really helped! The number 10 is also really, really helpful! It makes all those gigantic numbers easy as pie.
