Any of you guys know of any Wireless headsets for the 360 besides this 1st party one (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Wireless-Headset/dp/B000Q7ZESK)? Plantronics (who made an excellent 1st-gen Xbox headset) don't have a wireless one, unfortunately.

Is there a reason you don't want the first party one? It's quite good.

The only other wireless headsets I can think of are ones like Ear Force X3s (http://www.amazon.com/Ear-Force-X3-Headset-Wireless/dp/B000VHY3GO/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1208306921&sr=8-1) which seems to have gotten good reviews but may be too much for what you are asking.

Another vote for the X3s, here. I picked up a pair on eBay for cheap. If you're patient, they do come up every so often.

The impression I got when they first came out and people around here discussed them was they were just lovely if they worked, but several people had problems with disconnects or interference or something. With no way of knowing if they'd work well for me (and an incredible laziness about things like return policies), my interest was killed.

I'm pretty sure those problems have been fixed in the later hardware revisions. I got one this past Christmas, and it works great. I would recommend it.

The one I have is a halo edition, mind you. It charges through USB, which I don't believe the standard ones do.

Mine does. Works fine for me -- my friends say my voice quality is a smidge less good than when I'm using the wired one, but not enough so to be bothersome.

Not meaning to be a buzzkill here, but the controller is wireless, and the headset plugs into that. Why are people playing the extra money for the wireless headset when they have everything they need to walk to the fridge for more beer between matches?

My dad has had problems with, I believe, 2 different wireless first party headsets. I wouldn't touch 'em... but my wired pack-in headset broke too.

As others have surmised, it's the poor reputation of this device that's keeping me away.

Dang, that's one I hadn't seen, but might be overkill just a touch. I might just pick up the wired Plantronics headset; Best Buy's selling it online for $20.

If the reputation of the product wasn't so questionable I would have picked it up when I got the console as well. Seems to be a theme on this platform...

The wired one is suitable, but I have a big problem with the way the small diameter cord lays against my wrist when I'm holding the controller. I have to fickle with it and get everything situated where it lays in a way that's not distracting, which is annoying every time you get up/move.

I also have a lot of hair, so unless I have a cap on or have it tied back, the plastic head band piece is stretched way around my fat skull and fits on me all wonky, which is also annoying unless I fidget with it for a while. I don't think it'd be much improved if I had a crew cut either, that little strip of foam on the side of the plastic isn't very plush.

So mainly I would be looking at the wireless headset from a comfort and convenience perspective, and for that price it's not really worth it, especially if it has inferior performance to the cheapo wired pack-in - even at $40 from Sams/Costco

Those X3s look awesome though, perfect for my early sunday morning gaming. Good suggestions all around, thanks for the thread UncleSmoothie.

The wireless headset also works with the drums and guitars of rockband

Like I said pee rights. Hit bute, drop the controller and go let one out.

The first-party headset's issues were solved with a firmware update. So even the earliest ones suddenly started working a lot better. The firmware update went out with one of the console updates. It was a "silent" update -- no notification that it was happening.

I'd shelved my wireless headset due to numerous complaints from other gamers. Since the update, I've had zero issues with it.

If you'd asked me a month after it came out, I'd have said stay away from the official headset. Now, it's great.

I have the X2 version of the Ear Force and feel I wasted the money. They just don't sound good, feel good or generally work good for me.

Eventually I'll pick up a MS Wireless HS.

I've been really frustrated with the first-party accessories other than the controllers themselves. I had problems with the wireless headset working with windows (using the game adapter thingy) and the wireless racing wheel is a piece of garbage, IMO.

The controllers are wonderful, though.

Odd, I've had no problems using any of my accessories (granted I haven't tried the headset yet) with Windows or the 360. I couldn't live without my wireless wheel, it works great on both Windows and the 360 as well. Makes Forza a completely different experience.

I had the Lifechat (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-LifeChat-ZX-6000-Wireless-JUF-00001/dp/B000J3MM9K) headset, and it seems to be the same as the Xbox one, it even came with a USB dongle that doubles as a 360 controller receiver. I don't know if it's the same technology but the sound quality of the microphone was terrible. I sounded like I was in a distant room, according to my guildmates on Vent. I could hear them just fine, though.

I never considered the Xbox version because of my bad experience with the Lifechat. If the firmware was patched as you say, I might give it another try.
