Okay, saw this on a couple of blogs today (including Josie Nutter's, a QT3 irregular....):

Key in your views on a number of topics and it will tell you which candidates best match your views. As with most multiple choice PC tests, sometimes the answer I'd give (ie: I'm for SOME of what the ACLU does) isn't available, so YMMV.

The most surprising thing about my results? Dennis Kucinich matches 100% of my choices.

The least surprising thing? Even Al Sharpton was higher on my list than the Shrub. However, Bush did at least beat out Lyndon Larouche and Howard Phillips.

Ooops. I left off Dick "I'm going to win by promising a beefy tax hike" Gephardt," but I really don't think that matters in the end... And the poll appears to have eaten Kucinich -- perhaps it was trying to be merciful to him, since he's tracking just ahead of Sharpton.

Dennis may have gotten nuttier as he's gotten older, but when he was The Boy Mayor of Cleveland he came up with one of my all-time favorite political quotes. The city was on the verge of bankruptcy because the Union Commerce Bank, which held most of the city's notes, was refusing to extend the loans. At the same time, the large, privately-owned electric utility in town, the Illuminating Company, was trying to force the city to sell it the city's publicly owned Muny Power Plant, because (duh!) it didn't like the competition. It turned out that the Union Commerce Bank and the Illuminating Company had interlocking boards of directors. When this came to light in the media, the directors said, "Our decisions as directors of the Illuminating Company are completely independent of our decisions as directors of the Union Commerce Bank." To which Kucinich replied: "Anybody who believes that also believes in the Tooth Fairy."

I got 100% Kucinich, too. That can't be right...Kerry was second at 82. Not sure how Wes Clark ended up a -9. No real shockers.

Of course, the survey only mentions a few issues. Things like defense spending, corporate/union involvement in politics, etc. But by and large a decent little game.

I think this doesn't work so well because it's dependant on, obviously, stated positions of candidates. That means just because you have an opinion about something the candidate hasn't mentioned yet, you'll move away from that candidate. Lists aside I tend to like Dean, then again I liked McCain too, but I'd probably go over to Clark if he announced. After having seen both Dean and Clark interviewed, Clark came across as more knowledgable and professional.

Kucinich topped the generated list but he gets on my nerves. I can like somebody's ideas and still wince when they open their mouths.

Not so interesting aside, the Phillips were our neighbors when I was growing up in Fairfax. My parents really hated Howard politically but, well, he was a neighbor and - worse - his son Doug was my best friend as a kid. I remember going to visit them once for a campover after they moved and Howard telling us scarey stories before we went to sleep, about an escaped Loch Ness monster that'd been brought to the National Zoo or something. Well, we weren't sleeping! And then he snuck out later and banged on our tent scaring us to death! Lost touch with Doug over time. I wonder how the kid turned out.

I got Kerry, which isn't surprising because that's where I've been leaning for a couple weeks now. Yeah, I got Bush at 0% (no surprise there), but Clark at -8%...that struct me as really odd, since I've always been impressed by Clark and think that of anyone he has the best chance of beating Bush. After reading his profile, I actually think he'd make an excellent candidate...I've no idea why this scored him so low for me.
