So today I got my boxes of Cinna-Spins and Peanut Butter Patties. It's been about 10 years since I bought any Girl Scout cookies and I basically had no idea what any of the current flavors were besides good ol' Thin Mints. I nearly got a box of the lemon ones but I thought they were just the baked shortbread and I didn't know they had icing. :(

Frozen Thin Mints are the best thing ever, when it comes to Girl Scout cookies.
I also love me some Samoas, and the peanut butter sandwich ones. The lemon ones are pretty good too.
My mom likes to eat the shortbread ones with honey and apples. Or peanut butter and raisins. She's odd, that one.

There are Thin Mints...then there are the other Scout Cookies...all subpar compared to the glory that is the thin mint.

I like the plain cookie that is shaped in the symbol of the Girl Scouts.
*shrug* I just like the taste.

The only Girl Scout Cookie is the Samoas. There are no others.

Thin mints > all. You others are just pretenders to the throne. Besides, everyone knows Thin Mints are better orators and Samoas are just scrambling trying to drum up negative remarks just to catch up.
And I agree with the above, they are best when frozen and eaten with a nice cold glass of milk.
I like Thin Mints and Do-si-dos or whatever they are calling the peanut butter sandwich cookies these days.

Thin Mints are made of pure awesome.
Tagalongs? (the peanut butter and chocolate ones) come in a close second.
All other Girl Scout cookies are dead to me.

This is one tradition you Merkins are welcome to export to Europe. Get on it, ASAP.

To make this a true Qt3 thread we need some anti-Girl Scout rhetoric! Someone mine this for outrages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_Scouts_of_the_USA#Controversies

Girl Scout cookies were 10x better 10 years ago. Bigger too.

That's certainly true for Samoas. I don't think the other kinds have changed as much.
The old Samoas were divine. The new ones, while diminished, are still very good.

I agree.. it's hard to put down the results of their changes, they're harder and slightly less tasty I think. Still.. jeez I love those cookies.

I looked at the nutritional info for thin mints once.
I haven't eaten any since. The amount of trans fat was horrific.

Yeah but they're a once a year treat, so it's not like you're eating them all the time.
Thin Mints ftw!

I remember those meals. Thin mints and cans of Coke... ugh... getting a stomach ache just thinking about it.

Still, you're talking about cookies. If you're interested in the nutritional values of cookies you're not thinking about them in the right frame of mind.

All GS cookies have been reformulated to be zero trans fats (note: that isn't "trans fat free," it is the "rounds down to zero in our ridiculously small serving size" version). Thin Mints survived this relatively unscathed, but others like the Tagalong are awful now.
If you are in an area served by Little Brownie Bakers, the new Lemon Chalet Cremes are great. I ordered more of those than Thin Mints. The Sugar Free Chocolate Chips are very good, too.

Shortbreads
I remember being able to purchase them or receive my orders prior to the Super Bowl. Is that still happening? I placed an order this year but haven't received them yet.

Girl scouts: they're the less virulent & more pleasant siblings of the boy scouts.

No trans fats in bacon. Trans fats are produced by hydrogenation- usually large-scale.
Mmm, Girl Scout cookies...
I remember the ones that I used to sell most were the Thin Mints and Samoas. After those came the Trefoils, and I can't remember the rest of them now... that was about 10 years ago...

I had a coworker come by my desk to sell girl scout cookies for his daughter a while back. Everyone loves it, cookie day at the office is full of people bouncing off the walls with sugar. About half way through my conversation with the guy, the HR woman who sits across from me turned and said to the guy, "you know you can't sell things like that at work right? This is a place of business. You need to go back to your desk or at least not discuss selling cookies."
Now the guy had been at my desk maybe 4-5 minutes, tops. Also, not to be snide but the woman looked like she 'had partaken' of such things more than a time or two herself. To be honest I thought she was being nosy so I somewhat impolitely told her to stfu and that everyone loved Girl Scout cookies.
Nobody likes a cookie-hater. Nobody. Long live Thin Mints.

I happen to have a recently delivered box of thin mints on my desk right now, and the trans fat per serving is listed as 0 grams (sat fat is 6g, total is 8g). Maybe this is why people think they don't taste as good as they used to?
