Of course you're right Tom. This is why I have decided to now definitively end my short-lived participation in the long-running Cleve Comedy Carnival. I went a couple of posts longer than I had planned, as like any guilty pleasure it can can be hard to kick the habit.

As for Cleve's contribution to the Movies forum (otherwise known as the non-nuke rantings), I may be compelled to check these out and find out for myself if they are as interesting as you claim. Certainly his new posting criticizing Black Hawk Down for featuring "lots of fighting, yelling and shooting" is an intriguing one. I would love to see an adaptation of that book that managed to get by without these elements.

Considering it took Cleve, at the very least, twenty minutes to find my error (post time to edit time to include his little crapfest) it's not really something I would have been bragging about.
I'm actually quite proud that I'm not paranoid or insecure enough to have to run every single post through spellcheck.

When Cleve Blakemore arrived on this forum, ISSUES of right vs. left arrived as well, as did bmulligan who pitched in with passion.

I agree that conservatives existed prior to Cleve Blakemore. But those conservatives were talking about GAMES, not about political issues (with only a few exceptions). There is a much more passionate and frequent right vs. left debate going on right now as well as issues that only exist coinciding with Blakemore.

Idiots see what someone posts. Non-idiots see what someone *creates* outside of and by his posts.

The reason right vs. left did not exist prior to Blakemore is that the conservatives who do (and did) exist lacked the passion necessary for the subject, and the *extremeness* necessary for passion.

In any event I guess I took your advice about not clicking on threads I don't want to read, because I don't particularly recall Derek ever starting anything with Huffman outside of the thread for which he was banned, where I thought his indictment was for disobeying orders from the Administration to stop posting in that thread, rather than a general propensity to disrupt legitimate conversations with that sort of dialog.

Be that as it may, some people might get the wrong impression when Derek Smart is banned (or just reprimanded if that turns out to be the case) for posting inane drivel about Ph.D.s and the like, while Cleve, without reproach, gaily floods the forum with white supremacist propaganda straight from the boards of the National Alliance about the "negritudes", Mexicans flooding the borders, and Jews manipulating the U.S. government in the interests of Israel.

Just out of interest, as I am new here, how far would Cleve, or anyone else for that matter, have to go with his racist diatribes in order to get banned? He already posts his "ideas" all over the place. About half of the threads at the top of Everything Else are Cleve-related.

He posts his shit in other people's threads (i.e. right now "Recalling Gray", which he hijacked in order to express his fear and loathing of Mexicans).

He posts his shit in the movie review forum (i.e. "Black Hawk Down" right now in the movie forum, which he has used as an excuse to express his fear and loathing of the "negro").

At no point did I ever see Derek Smart posting flame wars in the movie forum that were titled to make you think it was a genuine discussion of a film.

It isn't easy to ignore unless you check the originator of every thread you click on before you visit...something I at least am not in the habit of doing, as I'm interested in the subject of a post rather than the author.
