View Full Version : NYC Game Night?
Having recently broken up with my girlfriend, leaving me with a lot of extra room and little to do on Friday nights, I was thinking about trying to get together a little gaming group. Fridays seem to be best for me, since there's usually nothing going on worthwhile (just lots of drinking) and I hate going out in the city when it's so busy.
I was thinking we could start with some board games and booze, then perhaps move on to the harder stuff, like pen-and-paper or even videogames. Since I know that most of the Qt3ers are a cut above, except for the crazy ones, I thought I'd throw the offer out to NYC Qt3 Local 1 first.
FYI, I am in Park Slope, near the F and N/R trains. Anybody interested?

Although it means staying in the borough (and I have been soooo trying to get to the City more often), I would up for some nerdiness in South Slope - especially since it would be only one subway stop from my place. Plus, I have plenty of fine board games that need to get used more often than twice a month.

Why don't you guys just move to Los Angeles and come to Shoot Club?

Dude, that's like a 12 hour drive.
We could try to do something this Friday. I've got appointments in the city throughout the day, but the evening is free, as per usual.
Also, for gaming, I've got a projector and a decent TV, so that's always a possibility. (When Rock Band comes out, I imagine I'll be playing a fair amount.) I don't have a great table and chairs, but I'd be happy to pick something up as it becomes necessary.
Anyone else? I want to make sure any interested Qt3ers are on board before I put something up to a wider group of people.

I was going to ask you if we could license the "Shoot Club" brand, but I don't want to have to write stories about it.

East Coast Shoot Club?
Also: Would do, since I'm from New York, but can't, since I'm not from that part.
If only this was 2 1/2 years ago. I lived in Brooklyn (north Slope then Carroll Gardens) for 14 years, until wife and child dragged me kicking & screaming to Jersey. That said, if there's ever a Friday when I'm left to my own devices, it's not thaaat long a drive.

I would be totally into this, depending on when it happens. I'm in Windsor Terrace, probably just a few blocks away.
EDIT:
until wife and child dragged me kicking & screaming to Jersey -- there is also a high danger of this happening to me, I hopefully have a few months left though.

I live in Prospect Heights, so I'm a 20ish minute walk from you. I'd be down if it was Monday through Thursday, my weekends are always booked.
Sorry I dropped the ball on this last week. I was out of town and didn't get back until Thursday.
I know it's Thanksgiving weekend, but I thought I'd open up an invitation anyway. Rock Band and leftovers?

I think you'll have more like the week after thanksgiving. Maybe just PM everybody who posted here with the details?
Like a lot of people, I'm out of town this weekend.

I would love to but I too will be out of town. And then next Friday I will be seeing Oneida and Kinski in Greenpoint. Maybe two Fridays from now.

I might also be interested, but I've got the same "family obligations this week and seeing a band (WEEN!) next friday" problem. Put me on the mailing list!
P.S. I'm about an hour from Park Slope in Hoboken.

I'm in the New York area at the moment, and I'll be here through Monday and possible also Thursday (of next week) for some time.
If anyone wants to do something together, or head into the City (despite the strike) toss me a PM.
Awise! Okay, I let this one fall apart. Sorry about that! Anyone want to try one next Friday?

I should be around if we get enough people, maybe try PMing the people who mentioned interest last time?

The girlfriend will be in Seattle visiting the folks Friday, so I'm up for it.

I have it worse. Went from Cobble Hill to Florida!
My ex works at Gutter, too, so sometime we could go bowling! I've got a crazy day today but I'll try to PM some folks later.

Sweet. I live in Prospect Heights, too. But I'm much too lazy to go to a stranger's house to play video games. :)
Feel free to look me up on PSN or X-Fire though -- sgthalka

Anything ever come of this? I'm a park sloper myself and might have some time to get involved...
