What's about to happen to my friend's computer? (Hellgate London beta)

He just got an email inviting him into the beta. His system is:

Athlon 2400+ XP
512 MB RAM
GeForce 4200 128MB

He's well below the minimum RAM and video card. Will this even install, or run?
Or will he just crash on startup?

Don't understand why they'd let him into the beta with this system if the game wouldn't run at all, but that video card trying to run this...yecch.

I believe HG:L requires a DX9-compliant card; geforce 5-series or ati 9-series or higher. He won't be able to play.

I know it does. I'm just wondering if it'll start up at all, or if he'll get a CTD on startup.

The game will either crash or pop up a warning box telling him to fuck off depending upon how good the hardware detection and error catching code is in the game. It may refuse to install if they put good detection into the setup installer, but it wouldn't be too surprising if the beta installer didn't bother with such things.

Either way he won't be able to play it, so who cares?

From what I hear from people on the beta, it'd probably crash right away even if he had a supported videocard, so maybe that's why they let him on the beta... because crashes either way!
