So I'm walking around work today asking for one..after about 6 people..I realize none of them knew what I was asking for. Isn't localized slang wonderfull! (I'm a Pittsburg'er (Go Steelers!) living in Floriduh) Sorry for lack of the shit b0nerz option.

Didn't fascination with localized slang get old halfway through freshman year in college?
"Holy shit! You don't use dude? Woah! I don't use wicked! It's like we're speaking totally different languages!!!!"
Oh wait... that's right. It was kinda old even then.
I spent a few minutes looking around for that thread about the wolf giving birth, car boot sales, supermarket trolleys, and mumbly-pegs but I can't find it. Unfortunately, the link to the survey and its results is broken now, too.
Internet to the rescue, though, here (http://web.archive.org/web/20070205052754/http://cfprod01.imt.uwm.edu/Dept/FLL/linguistics/dialect/maps.html) is the Internet Archive version.
edit: Bummer, though, not only is it incredibly slow, the pictures are timing out, so you can't see where the weirdos who talk wrong actually live.

Not if you went to college in your own area? I never knew it was local slang until today.

I could figure it out based on "rubbers" being "gummies" and all that.

If it weren't for E-40 I wouldn't even know the slang from the Yay' Area.

Did Aeon just suggest that the groupthink be denied its main connection?

So, what is it about this thread that causes AdSense to stick me with a "Find your BBW Soulmate!" banner ad?
<shudder>
The things we really need I would guess.

I just keep getting "Hillary for 2008!" ads that have the picture of some constipated lesbian troglodyte on them.
