Where the hell did this come from??

At first I thought it was a gag...and i'm still not sure it isn't..

Probably just a parody that focuses on the Homer missions in the upcoming Simpsons game.

which looks like they might have some Medal of Homer missions inside the full Simpsons Game.

Thank god WW2 vets are almost all gone. Now all they have to do is roll over in their grave!

The upcoming Simpsons game from EA contains a number of parody games within it, such as Medal of Homer.
The other one they showed off was a 3D platformer starring Homer and Lisa that poked fun at a lot of Japanese-styled games.

This is like all the bad thematic elements of recent WWII shooters rolled into one unwatchable film.

No PC version of this coming? Hmm, guess I'll be waiting to play this one, then.

Ah, baloney. Simpsons WWII parody is less offensive than serious WWII games.

Yep the new Simpsons game looks pretty sweet. I dig the concept.

I'm definitely down for renting this. My only concern is that we end up with hours of "samey" gameplay in pursuit of semi-stale narrative cookies.

Well that's the whole point, if you're only getting 2 hours of medal of homer, and 2 hours of bart platforming, and two hours of lisa saxophone heroing, and 2 hours of maggie dance dance revolutioning, etc, it'll never have a chance to get old because the license and characters alone are strong enough to sustain interest for a limited time. Each individual game doesn't have to be particularly good. Which is about right, given the history of Simpsons games.

I really enjoyed The Simpsons: Hit and Run. If this upcoming game is as good or better, I'm happy.

Please: we've been making fun of WW2 since Hogan's Heroes. If Zombie GIs didn't eat Bob Crane's brain, they won't snack on Matt Groening's over this.

As Papageno points out, Hit & Run was the happy exception to the runny crapulence which has been the Simpsons games. Here's hoping this game continues that trend, rather than just being a fluke.

The new simpsons game is actually a whole bunch of minigames. You really think you can cram a WW2 FPS clone, a katamari damacy clone, a GTA clone, a god of war clone, etc, in a single game and not have them suck individually?

Man, they really missed a trick there. Why the hell would you a name a parody GTA clone Grand Theft Scratchy when you have a bus-driving character called Otto in your show?

WHAT MUSIC DID THEY USE? Is that medal of honor? It was awesome music.

To avoid a pre-release lawsuit, I'd bet. Trademarks are trademarks, even when they're homonyms.

Really I would think a parody would be clear of that lawsuit.

Starbucks has bullied artists with a claim of appropriation of trademark, even in the context of a parody. I don't have time to give you a link, but I think the CBLDF would have a discussion of that.

That looked pretty good, if the game is in minigame form is it going to be you play MoH level 1 then Neverquest 1 ,etc or do you play thru each game to it's end then move on to the next one.
The models of homer and marge look almost identical to the cartoon ones, but the other characters look a bit off to me.

That's an issue with the spiky hair. When hand-drawn, they have to cheat whenever they show the tops of the characters' heads.

Oh, I dunno. Bart's Nightmare was entertaining even with the bad control. And Hit and Run was really good before it was ruined for me. Krusty's Funhouse was pretty good too, from what I remember. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong way, way before MvDK existed.

I tested Bart's Nightmare ports back when I worked for Sculptured Software. What a rough experience... though I never got sick of Krusty's laugh. I remember Marge being the only one that didn't have a voice sound because Julie Kavner demanded too much money for the phone-it-in.

Thanks for bringing that memory back. I hated that one level in bart's nightmare the indiana jones parody and I could never beat it. In fact I don't think I ever beat an older simpsons game with the exception of the arcade one and hit and run.

I remember watching Hogan's Heroes with my grandpa before he died. Good memory. I can't see any WW2 vets freaking out at it though.
I am still trying to finish the exasperating, slightly deranged Medal of Honor: Airborne (PC), and I have yelled "DOH!" repeatedly in the process, so I think it's appropriate. In fact, I think relabeling the game "Medal of Homer: Airborne" would be very appropriate. :p

I like that fact that the DS version will have a "pet homer" game included, while the Wii's version will have some extra mini-games.
Seems like a nice way to fit the game into each console.

I heard good things about Hit and Run, so I rented it and played it for about two hours waiting for the fun to start - it never did.
Then I realized I'd accidentally rented The Simpsons: Road Rage instead. God that game sucked ass. Maybe some day I'll actually get to play Hit and Run...
