Brace yourself. You and I both know about all those people diagnosing themselves as smart all over the internet. We are not going to waste our time with that anymore. I was sitting at my desk at work, hitting "random article" on wikipedia, the way I always do. How was I to know, she was with the Russians too. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_shyness)

Ha!

I do owe you an apology. I was not able to select a small part of this article that I want you to read and laugh. There was simply too much. Because of this, I am going to pretend that the article is more humorous when you read it and discover the bizaare nuggets of neuroses yourselves, interspersed throughout the text. Pretend that you accept that explanation and read the article. While you are at it, please imagine me in a proud red tricorn aboard a ship at sea, stifling a mutiny by dance contest victory.

I understand if you haven't got the time to peruse the clippity clapporing of wired dunderheads all day, so, for the gentleman or lady of tight scheduling, I give you this nugget;

People with time to read the whole thing, skip this. Reading below this mark will Crying Game joke.

Other love-shy attributes
According to Gilmartin, many love-shy men show the following patterns:

often feel women are more privileged (have it easier) than men
place great, often disproportionate importance on physical beauty (especially facial beauty)
are not as likely to be interested in male friendships. Most of the love-shy men had feelings of misandry towards the same-sex.
are in below-average physical shape as a group
were usually quiet as infants, while non-love-shy men are rarely so
tend to be more interested in movies and music, and prefer watching different types of movies from non-love-shy men
are more interested in female oriented activities
are less patriotic
are more likely to be apolitical
are less religious but largely spiritual
develop interest in females at an earlier age than usual, particularly in the third to fifth grade range
often only want to have female children
often have a hard time expressing their emotions
often have tense, nervous, angry and/or two-faced mothers
were an only child
often have no sisters, and rarely have more than one
often are very serious
often had no adults to turn to for emotional support as children, and continue to be that way as adults
often felt they had little influence on family decisions as children
are easily upset
have demanding parents who invade their privacy and are overprotective
often go through an excessive amount of psychological trauma, of which love-shyness can be the aftermath; many of the above items can be precursors of it
hold their parents responsible because of some of the aforementioned limitations and also hate them

Emphasis added.

The Talk page of this entry is awesome. I bolded my favourite part:

And I believe that Gilmartin was definitely on to something with his book, but more people that work in chemistry and psychology need to research this much further, because his credibility probably wasn't helped with the references to Kirlian photography and such (even though there is probably some real scientific basis behind someone's "aura" that has not been researched).

This article may require cleanup to meet Wikipedia's quality standards.

This is the funniest thing I've read on Wikipedia to date. Quality Standards? Wikipedia? Bwahahahahahah.

I winced when I read the following:

Most of the love-shy men had feelings of misandry towards the same-sex.

Fascinating article. I'll send it to everyone I know so they can keep up once I start using "love-shy" as a euphemism for "tool" or "douchebag". Seriously, I could add a couple:

-spent much of their adolescence playing Dungeons and Dragons, sketching pictures of Liger*, and reciting entire Monty Python skits.

-do not drink beer because it tastes "icky".

-expend enormous effort awkwardly attempting to show how sensitive and chivalrous they are

This classification sounds kind of bullshit to me, especially the part about hating men. I suppose it makes some sense. Anyway, that article was lacking some necessary oxford commas, so I added them.

Skills IN magic. Because they have magic skills. Everybody's got skills, like for example awesome numchuck skills.

Edit: Hey, I like movies and music! I guess I'm some brave new kind of wimp.

This-a article, she is fun to edit. I wonder how often it's patrolled.

I think that I'll use this as the definition of 'pussy'.
