Having just purchased a Dell 2407WFP (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4335), I'm curious as to what other follies the Memorial day sales may have induced...

Not on sale, but I bought $800 worth of shelves from Ikea.

$800+ on stuff for the deck. But, on the plus side, the deck kicks ass now!

Some CDs, since they're mostly all $9.99 at Circuit City. Nothing major.

A hot tub and El Guap's little black book off ebay (Buy It Now $999 FTW).

Actually bought my wife some birthday gifts for tomorrow, which would be the birthday.

Two pies and two bottles of wine for the BBQ at a friend's house. And struts for the tailgate on my car (a bitch to install when both the old ones are dead!)

I finally updated my picture taking gear with a new Nikon D40 that was on sale at Circuit City. Being a camera n00b, and coming from a older 3MP point and shoot, I am pretty damn impressed with it.

I bought a couple of egg rolls and an energy drink.

I bought over $150 of gas. But it was most definitely not on sale.

I just bought some new sunglasses, and am now wrestling with whether or not to drop $85 on a stainless steel wallet (http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?source=family&itemId=14795). Key unanswered question: Will it last four times as long as a $20 leather wallet?

If you do pick it up, get that steel wallet engraved (http://www.morsa.net/bmf.jpg).

I prefer metal wallets like some of these (http://www.kyledesigns.com/category/13_unique_gifts.cigarette_cases_wallets/).

Bread, milk, eggs, breakfast cereal, bag of salad, a couple ears of corn, Diet Mountain Dew, and some Fudgsicles. Very exciting stuff.

I can never keep track of which holidays are real holidays and which ones are just government holidays.

Empty Altoids tin = cheap metal wallet.

I bought two 6-packs of Belgian beer for a backyard gathering that a friend of my girlfriend's friend was having. This guy was serious about his barbecue and had been smoking the brisket since 2am, in a concrete and tile smoker/barbecue island he built himself next to his deck.

Civ 4 for $20
Resident Evil 4 for $10

at Circuit City. Maybe by October I'll have played them enough to revive years old threads on the Games board.

Budget gamer FTW (for the wait)

1 sixpack of terrible Mexican beer (Pacifico) upon room-mate's request. Though I have to admit, sometimes Mexican beer is great on a hot summer day
1 pouch of Jester Premium Rolling tobacco (store was out of Bali Shag)

Oh and a fire extinguisher.

Nah, it's in preparation for getting the grill ready. One can never be too careful with open flames!

My only weekend purchases:

On Sunday at the ballgame (free tickets) I bought my son and myself one Super Hot Pretzel that was neither Hot nor Super and two small drinks, $10.

On Monday I bought my son and daughter each a dish of soft serve chocolate from the local zip dip, $3.

Total expenditure : $13
Happy Kids : Priceless

Lets see, a refrigerator, a washer and a dryer. "Memorial Day Discount" was 10%, plus I saved another 10% with a moving coupon. Delivery plus power cord, dryer ducting, etc were thrown in for free after a little haggling with the salesperson.

It was a very good Memorial Day shopping experience.

Oh right, that was the name of a movie or something... I didn't know what to make of that name printed on the box.

I bought a Honda Civic Hybrid at dealer invoice.

I also bought a fabulous sushi dinner at Fugakyu (http://www.fugakyucafe.com/) in Sudbury, probably the best sushi in the Boston area there.

I also bought one of those digital picture frames because it was my wife's birthday and we don't go away on the trip I bought her for another two weeks, so I wanted to give her something on the day. It was an impulse buy at the mall, and I probably overpaid.

I bought the last available of the 45 Wiis that showed up on Sunday at Best Buy.
