Messi wonder goal - eerie!

Anyone familiar with Diego Maradona's "best goal ever" against England in the 1986 World Cup should find this goal scored last night by fellow Argentinian Lionel Messi of Barcelona fascinating - it's EXACTLY THE SAME GOAL.

Looks like Maradona started his run a bit further back on the pitch, and Messi had an additional defender to beat just outside the box, but yeah, weirdly similar.

That goal is uncannily similar to Maradona's.

Incidentally, Messi is playing with Barcelona on the 24th against my favorite Egyptian team! Hope we don't lose 6-0 or something.

Messi made more moves and faked out more defenders (and only in the end-line view can you really see how he faked left on the goalie).

But the stage and level of competition still tip the scale to Maradona.
