Perhaps the judge is a rascist, gleefully turning the tables on "cultural sensitivity" to inflict harm on a hated muslim woman...

And well they should... but one does wonder how someone becomes a judge in a civilized country if they actually beleive some hokey religious text takes precedence over the law of the land, and more importantly, precedence over basic human rights and freedoms granted by that country's constitution.

The judge was being a little TOO accomadating, you know what I mean?

I read a brief article about that. As far as I know it's an isolated incident and the first of its kind. Several politicians from various parties called her nuts and demanded disciplinary action. As the NYT article notes, another judge has already been assigned to the case. So... not much there, other than a judge who may have taken multiculturalism a bit too seriously.
