View Full Version : QT3 ESPN Fantasy Baseball 2007 League

I've always liked ESPN's fantasy league system and tools better than the others, they are really easy to use and seem to work really well, plus the various tools are extremely helpful (something very easy, like the Most Added/Dropped lists, etc.).
Anyway, ESPN has responded to a lot of the competition in this area by making their baseball fantasy leagues free (the pay ones are still around but those are for prizes, etc.) so I was wondering if we could drum up some interest for a QT3 fantasy league for the upcoming season.
Preferences for types of scoring, an h2h system, live draft, etc. would be appreciated.

I am completely in. I would prefer a live draft, and usually the default settings are fine in regards to scoring and positions.

EDIT: For baseball I prefer rotisserie, but it is not a deal breaker.

I haven't been in a fantasy league in ages. But count me in anyway.
I have zero preferences for the setup.

I have never been in a fantasy league but I've always wanted to try, so I'm in.

Couple of other things to note: AL/NL, or AL or NL only (which has a big impact on the number of teams and the "depth" of how you participate -- a 10- or 12-team one-league team will have you scraping the bottom of the barrel for players, which some people like but I think most would probably prefer the middle-ground).
Because it'll be the first time for most people I think going rotisserie would probably be the best bet.

Should probably go AL/NL if we're going to have some first timers in the league. If you limit yourself to one league, then you need to really be into the game.

Count me in.
Although since I've already got my Yahoo account set up, I have to ask, is ESPN the best option?

I'd be interested as well. I'm not to familiar with ESPN's fantasy sports, but I'm open to it. I echo the "got a Yahoo account already" thing as well.

I like h2h, major league etc.... I usually have 8 Yahoo teams every year....

Frankly I'm just used to playing (and paying) on ESPN; I like their system generally, it feels more professional, and their resources are generally more free (but not always).
Far as I can figure, the only thing it doesn't have is IM-messaging through Yahoo messenger or something similar, but I don't think I've ever used it yet in a fantasy games setting.
I guess at the end of the day it depends on what everyone wants to use and is most convenient for them.

How accessible is a game like this to someone who has never tried Fantasy sports before? I mean, I watch a lot of baseball but never actually was in a fantasy league before...
If there's room for a pure newb, I would love to try...

Another vote for yahoo, but I would be interested either way. If you have a mix of first-timers and vets (like Midnight Son), a standard 5X5 head-to-head weekly league is a good way to go.
If you've never played a daily league, you don't know about the grind that goes with churning pitchers.

I'd rather go head-to-head as well. I played in a daily league last year, and I found most all of what I was doing was trading out pitchers day in and day out. Not much fun, and really took away from the game as there was less trash talking to do, since there was no direct competition.

Very little point in starting my own competing league now, so if you want to join in, just go there.

Sorry, I hope I didn't create ill will. I was going to do this weekly league anyway and didn't think it would prevent anyone from doing a daily league or a rotisserie by posting here. (Many folks do multiple leagues.)
Anyway, a weekly league is really for the casual, don't let it stop anyone from doing something more traditional like a daily or rotisserie with live draft. (Mine's autopick draft.)

Alan, don't let the dream die. Be our baseball commissioner and I'll even play on ESPN.
