A few months ago, I read a fantastic article online about DeBeers and the diamond industry in general. It went deeply into how DeBeers manufactured the need for diamonds, which were considered useless until they paid off Hollywood studios to get their stars to wear them. It also explained pretty much every aspect of how DeBeers operates.
Unfortunately, I can't find this article anymore. I believe it was a transcript from a 1982-84 edition of The New Yorker or Harpers or something. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and better yet, have a link to that article?
Thanks-
