So my brother is a bit of a nut when it comes to hunting through yardsales for old games/systems. He's got a page of stuff he's found here
http://yardsales.lizndom.com/

Also just got linked off of digg
http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Couple_finds_videogames_at_yardsales_for_less_than _the_price_of_a_sandwich

Some of you folks might find it interesting what you can find and at what price.

His best score was probably the Dreamcast retail kiosk for $20. Included TV, stand, Dreamcast, and 2 controllers.

I see from the Digg comments that I'm not the only one. The site musta got Dugg.

EDIT: The site's up. Did they buy some more bandwidth?

It's been working fine for me. Cool site. I like the diary of yard sale chiselers etc.

Several years ago I hit a string of thrift stores every weekend, looking for Atari stuff. Had I kept a diary, it would have mentioned a Crusaders thrift employee following me around the store for 20 minutes, jeering "It's Elvis...And he all shook up, he all shook up...."

...and a morning when I spent an hour watching professional scavengers literally elbow each other in the face to grab junk from little Dumpsters that the Salvation Army was lowering down from a loading dock via forklift. I'd been told inside the store that there was a box of Atari carts at this loading dock, with maybe a thousand carts that had built up over years. When I got tired of watching the violence and stepped up to ask about it, the staff stared at me for a long while before telling me they'd put it in the crusher only two days before.

Man, he could make some decent money turning that stuff around on Ebay. I usually keep an eye out for older PC games at conventions and stuff throughout the year, and they sell for good money pretty often.

Cool site! I love stuff like this.

Nice finds. Makes me want to go yard sale hunting again. I love collecting old gaming hardware.

My best find, although somewhat mediocre in comparison, was copies of Ultima III, Might & Magic I and Might & Magic II, still in the shrinkwrap, for $1. This is about 20 years after these games were released.

Yeah, I would love to get my hands on the cloth maps from the rest of the series.
