View Full Version : Help with Cappuccino Machine Purchase

I know almost nothing about coffee. I drink very little of it, and have literally never made it. However, I need to purchase a cappuccino machine for someone who has been drinking it since she was 5. However, in my research I've found an enormous disparity in prices.
Many of the ones I've been looking at (http://www.1stincoffee.com/cappuccino.asp) don't feature water filtration, a clock/timer, or auto shut-off. Some brag about their reservoir size, others about start-up time. Are there a few key features that should drive my decision? And realistically, what should I be spending if I want something more than the Honda Civic of cappuccino machines, but something less than the Ferrarri 355? Does anyone have any personal recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Another coffee thread here pointed me to http://www.coffeegeek.com/ which is really a fantastic site. I found the espresso machine reviews really useful (they're called espresso machines, not cappuccino machines.. cappuccino is but one type of drink you can make out of espresso, although I suppose you'll want to make sure you get an espresso machine with a foamer if you want to make sure you can make capuccino).
Here's the Qt3 thread about it: hooray for search (http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=30376&highlight=%22espresso%22)

I get the peppermint latte. Don't dig on the mochas.
They've got the peppermint syrup all year round, though it's just not the same...

Does this mean I no longer have the right to make Wii jokes at Best Buy?
