I was sufing at www.firingsquad.com the other day and noticed that a couple of Beatdown articles by our own Mr. Andrew Bub were on the main page. I enjoyed the original series at dailyrader.com and sharkyexteme.com.
Congratulations, Mr. Bub and best of luck. Thanks to Jakub (spelling contest last name) for bringing him on board.

Wherefore are thou Freeman?
It's "art", Bub. And "wherefore" means "why" not "where". Were you misspelling and misunderstanding the original quote to indicate you were making a joke?

My guess that caption was put in by the Firing Squad people.

wow this really looks like Tom Chick's writing style/attack style. heh, guess that explains why the forums continue to go unmoderated, eh?!!
 :?

Look, I don't care who it was... he's right. I guess I never really thought about that quote in the context of the speech. Ah who cares, 'twas just a throwaway caption line anyway. I'm only explaining it because Xaroc pinned it on Jakub, and, so far, FS hasn't added any errors. I'm doing just fine without them. Hell, I'm much more embarrassed about misspelling "Champagne" in issue 1.
Thank you all for reading, and David for posting this thread in the first place. It's weird doing Beatdown again. Like a time warp back to 2000... only without the big paychecks. :)
Um... why is this in Books, Comics, TV, Misc. Media, btw?

My bad I just know a lot of times headlines and captions are not done by the author themselves. I was just hazarding a guess.

A valid criticism until you realize that that one line is 500 times more entertaining than anything written by any guest.
The articles are good Bub, never heard of them before now, thanks Dave.

Wow, engage in hyperbole much? Ten times is not enough -- 500 times it must be to make a mushy dent in the stirfried spunk that is the Cookiepants Consciousness.

wow this really looks like Tom Chick's writing style/attack style.
You mean except for the fact that it's anonymous? Besides, I think the "wherefore" confusion is understandable for anyone who was raised on The Little Rascals.
"Romeo, O Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?"
"Here I is!"
And with that one line from Buckwheat, the language of Shakespeare was damaged for generations.

Nope.
Anyway, given that even Shakespeareans mistook "wherefore" to mean "where" (Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? as Juliet looks around her garden in search of the jerk...), I don't think it's a big deal.

(Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? as Juliet looks around her garden in search of the jerk...)
The line is part of Juliet's monologue. She's talking to herself about what's in a name and the fact that the Montagues are the sworn enemies of her family. Her question is essentially 'why did you have to be named Romeo?'
Of course, if you're just kidding, then I'm a big dope for explaining it...consider me trolled and go stand in the corner with wumpus.

Haha yeah I know what it means. It's just that even people who make the plays have actually confused the meaning of wherefore - they quite literally have Juliet looking around her garden to see where he is. Now I don't know if they were pandering to the common misperception (likely) or simply ignorant (unlikely, as I was taught this in grade 11 English), but the confusion is such that I didn't see fit to correct wherefore.
As for Champagne, well, the Word spellchecker didn't pick up on it so I figured it was an alternate spelling.

I was torn between Games and Misc. Media and just picked Misc. Media since I was mentioning the return of Beatdown rather than commenting on any specific game-related content contained in your article.
