From an LOTR website:

According to an interview in the Official Lord of the Rings Fanclub Magazine, Peter Jackson has confirmed that The Two Towers Special Edition will come in at a whopping 222 minutes in length, a total of 43 minutes added to the film (that's 24% more movie!). Nearly all of this new footage will consist of character scenes, including a good deal of Treebeard expansion and Huorns at Helms Deep.

Sounds good to me--I thought one of the biggest problems with TTT, as compared to FOTR, is that it was more of an action movie and less of a character movie. Also, Huorns r0XX0r.

I guess we can hope that they also remove the cheesy "Excorcism of Theoden" scene, but that's probably too much to hope for.

Still, more character development (and scenes that alter or better explain the sometimes nonsensical plot) would make for a better movie.

Hmmm...Sounds like he may fix my biggest beef with the Helm's Deep battle - the orc army just walking off at the end...that battle was supposed to free Rohan to ride to Gondor. Not something you can do with a roaming large army at your back. Hopefully the Hourns will be shown taking care of business.
