What is good for news and stuff? I have BBC and Reuters, and I'm pondering Black Entertainment News, but I need some more good stuff. Especially Science news. Google, unhelpfully, only has a 'technology' section whereas I'm more broadly interested.
EDIT: Ooh, GunsAmerica - looks good!

Are there any crime/war hotspot updates? Like with points plotted on a map and up-to-the-minute updates? It would be pretty sweet to have my homepage become a kind of batcomputer.

Ever since the demise of apbnews.com (which was awesome in its heyday), I sometimes stop by Night Blotter (http://www.nightblotter.com) for a quick dose of crime/law enforcement news + cop commentary. No crime-map, unfortunately.

Ahem...
Well...
Make sure that you use Google maps and drill holes in your LCD monitor where you want to put the pins. Use Google images to get details of various missles and shotguns. And parachutes. And jets.
Google can, as well, link you directly to sites that help with gnawing of fingers and general angst that causes it.
Google has an incredible plethora of whip sites as well. Pick and choose wisely.
