McDonald's latest sweepstakes... join me in idiocy

So I was at McDonald's today and some annoying girls were there hassling everyone for their Monopoly pieces. Huh? Hmm, look at that, there's game pieces stuck to my soda. I opened them. One free breakfast sandwich, whoopee. And one....

Huh. If I read that correctly, it says that if I can match that game piece with its corresponding Boardwalk game piece, I win $1,000,000. Small print says "paid over 20 years".

I can't find any rule that says I can't put the word out and try to find someone else with the other matching game piece.

Now, of course, they probably sling a bunch of Park Places out there and there's only one fucking Boardwalk in all of America. But what the hell, it's worth a try:

If you find the Boardwalk piece, let me know, and we'll call a lawyer and arrange to split the $1M for the next 20 years, then we'll cash in together.

What the fuck, can't hurt -- this board is the biggest group of gaming-minded freaks I'm in contact with....

Game runs through the end of the month.

If you are the single luckiest person in America and you do get the ONE AND ONLY Boardwalk piece, and you can't afford the $100 - $200 to buy a bunch of McD's crap and throw it away to find a common Park Place yourself, then... um... drop me a line. Or something.

Yeah, they don't mess around with combining the probabilities of two rare pieces in these things. Much simpler to just print the number of each winning piece that you have prizes, and then a bunch of garbage pieces. And if somebody gets a winning piece but not the common one and doesn't realize it and ends up not claiming the prize, so much the better.

Or, in McDonalds' case, you have a bunch of people on the inside manipulating the sweepstakes so that their friends and relatives win, but no one else in America does.

They had a ton of bad press and lawsuits after the authorities busted the people involved in manipulating the game.

I recall when McDonald's Monopoly promotion wasn't so "cheap".

You get a little fold out piece of paper.

In the old days when we walked back and forth to school in knee deep snow in the summer, uphill both ways, there was an actual "board", still made of paper, but it looked like a Monopoly board.

Also, Boardwalk and Parkplace have always been like that. Had alot of one, and never found the 1 other.

All I ever won were injections of cholesteral directly into my heart's plumbing.

No, but I had totally forgotten. I heard about the whole scandal 5 years ago but it had fallen entirely out of my brain until I read about it on wikipedia.

Does anyone recall the 1982 Summer "Atari" scratch-off game at McDonalds. that was da bomb. We must have spent days searching through the trash cans buying small fries trying to win an Atari 5200.
