Dig Dug is pretty ho-hum. No sale for me. I'd buy a good Mr Driller port on XBLA in a heartbeat, though. Put in some multiplayer modes and I'll pay $60 for it!

Aaaahh, memories! I loved this game, even though I can only get past a single level. The tune is stuck in my head now...

Edit to add: OTOH no way I'd buy this. You can't get me to play this ever again!

HD support for Dig Dug...

I really don't what to say.

I have 3 different versions already.

Dig Dug 1 & 2 on GameTap, A battery operated TV contoller version, and it's on a classics disc.

I think I can live without a 4th High Def version.

I can't >_>

Downloaded trial game: Realized how much i've missed this game, since I used to play it as a youngster.

We had it at a pizza joint nearby, that is famous for its wings and taters. Its pizza's ho-hum, but its other entree's were delicious. Then, we'd play Dig Dug for an hour after eating, wasting quarters away at an awful rate.

ANd then it was gone. Never to be seen again.

Until today.

Hurray!

I'm really looking forward to the competition Nintendo's virtual console will bring to this space.

I love the idea of the XBL Marketplace but just don't feel it's anywhere near where it should be. Are we really excited that it's taken this long for Dig Dug to come out? Is it unreasonalbe to want the Marketplace to be more like Gametap and less like like the confusing layout system they have now?

Something tells me that a growing bureaucracy is to blame...

How much does 400 points cost in dollars? Just curious....

Five bucks. The conversion rate is 80 points to a dollar.

$5 for digdug. too much. I'd pay $5 for a conversion of UN Squadron (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=U&game_id=10247), though.

At first I'm thinking $5.00 is too much, but the integrated leaderboards really do make these games worthwhile. I mean, I easily dumped that much in quarters into nearly EVERY classic arcade game ever made, probably far more than that per game. So to pay $5.00 and get that integrated leaderboard, where I can make you foos look like amateurs, is totally worthwhile to me. ;)

Could they make it any smaller? Would it kill namco to offer widescreen support?

What the hell good does widescreen do for a vertical screen arcade game? Flip your HDTV on its side!

I bought a Game Boy Advanced just to play Dig-Dug on the arcade collections that came out. And then I played it and the fucking game scrolled vertically because they didn't do it right. I was so mad.

I would buy an XBox 360 though if Dig Dug is done right.

Gametap has a totally different model, though. It offers access to all of these games for its monthly fee, and you need to maintain your account in order to play them. You actually purchase the games in the Marketplace. (I assume you can still play them if you cancel your Live account, though you'd lose the Live stuff?)

I'm sure Microsoft could dump them all on there all at once, but I suspect by rolling them out in this way, each gets to be a bit more special. And each sells more copies when people are only paying out $5 here or $5 there, rather than spending $50 or more buy a dozen at a time.

The only thing the Gold Subscription gives you is the ability to play games online.

True. But I was mostly referring to the layout.
