I discovered the QT3 forum about six months ago, and my life has changed. Back then, I kept up with the news of the world, did my work with droning efficiency, and came home to watch a bit of television or do some computer gaming. Now I am a broken man. I have tried to read the more than 7,000 posts of Bill Dungsroman. I laugh at K0NY's transparent attempts at viral marketing. I dream of Tom Chick. And, at some dark depth of my soul, I, too, vote to stake fire.
I tried to quit once, but in my withdrawal I saw Flowers crawling on the ceiling. Now I spend more time in a day reading your posts than I do actually playing games. This forum is worse than any MMO.
So I've come to terms with my problem. I am Nelson, and I am a QT3-holic. Do you have the same problem? Maybe we can talk.

Problem? I don't have any problem. I can quit whenever I want.
Right after I finish refereeing the second Thing game, harassing people in the Tokyo Games Show thread, posting my crap celebrity encounters, looking at pretty pictures, scrutinizing all the Company of Heroes strategy tips, posting bad gossip about the PS3 launch, and relishing my new 1,500-post "Neo Acoustic" title.

Haha, I've been checking QT3 quite a bit of late, but really only during slow days at work. If I find an interesting article on Wikipedia I usually read that instead. At home, I do prefer to play games or do other stuff than check QT3, but I'm ok, I think.

• I played a vampire game
• I was blacklisted from my other favorite board.
I am now officially obsessed. Climb, post count, climb!

in my withdrawal I saw Flowers crawling on the ceiling
I saw an art exhibit a couple years ago in a museum in Israel called Preservation of Beauty. It was 900 flowers pressed behind a sheet of clear acrylic covering a plaster wall. The flowers were moldy and the mold was running down the wall in these green and fuscia mucusy stripes.

I can spend hours every day at this place during the summer, but when I'm at school I tone it down. With LSATs and apps coming I haven't been able to post as much as I like. So, I put 30 minutes to an hour, but it's probably closer to 20-40 minutes.

I don't post as much as I probably could (which is probably for the best). But yeah, I find myself just wandering back here far to frequently to see if any funny or interesting stuff has popped up since the last time I checked the site.

I have to say I've been reading this board for three years semi-regularly. Not because it's a particularly good place for gaming news (thought it's alright), and not because it's particularly full of insightful opinion (thought it's alright occasionally there too), but because it's full of the crankiest fucking nerds this side of John Dvorak. So, it's a pretty entertaining read.

I grew up in PG County, and I much prefer it over AA. AA is just too damn white, sometimes. Moving to Annapolis was culture shock for me. I haven't entirely enjoyed the scenery change.

Annapolis is best enjoyed by people with boats. I went to college there and spent a lot of time on the Severn with the rowing team, and loved it. But you're right, the place is very white. Even though the city's population is 30 percent black, it's creepy how they're hidden away. Some tourist maps don't even show the Clay Street area, and two parking garages basically block access to downtown from that neighborhood.
I'm still looking for a place to live in PG. Probably Hyattsville or Bowie.

We have a boat. Yes. But it's docked on KI. Yes, Clay Street is amazingly hidden, and a source for hushed tones and fear. I grew up in Bowie, and enjoyed it. My childhood house is for sale, totally check it out. Heh.

VIRGINNY FTW!
We are gonna send Webb in there, and he is gonna kick Allen's ass. Then we are gonna have a Democratic governor, at least one Democratic senator, but still be able to pay low taxes, buy unlimited assault rifles and guns with no permits, and marry our cousins, because they are so attractive.
Seriously, I've lived in DC and VA, and I like VA much better. Alexandria, anyway. I'm sure down south it's a bit more rednecky, kinda like living in southern Ohio. Plus sometimes I drink where George Washington drank. God that rocks!
Oh, and I check QT3 OBSESSIVELY on slow days at work.

My parents and my brother live in northern Va. I'm sure I'd like it there, but my heart is in Md. even though I was raised on the West Coast.
I still get a thrill when on "The Wire" they make in-jokes about places like Dundalk, Howard County and the Eastern Shore. Plus some of the actors have that awesome Baltimore accent.
Whatever happened to the DC-area get-together? It would be cool to meet some gamers around here.

I have recovered from my dethronement. The pain, however, is still lodged deep within my soul. Jason has no soul, OTOH. I keed, I keed (unless it is true).
I would like to say I am in a better spot in my life and have gotten past the obsessive posting as a remedy to dissatisfaction at work and therefore my existence on the planet; Work = better, all other facets = nebulous upheaval.
We all take breaks and then slink back, eventually, to find those who will validate our beliefs/yearnings/irritations in all things life related in one way or another.

There really ain't that much to it. That board has rules to keep the discussion family-oriented, it's a pay board, and I violated both principles. The sponsor in question was a ticket broker, "I have tickets for bla bla for $x," and I brilliantly decided to respond with, "I have tickets to watch this guy suck my cock for $3."
It was pretty stupid of me, at the level of telling Tom Chick to fuck off after he'd asked to tone down the racist comments.*
But it turns out the blacklisting also prevents me from accessing some of the site's paid content, so the publisher and I came to an agreement that he'll lift the blacklisting if I can keep my mouth shut until October.
