Holy shit, this amuses the hell out of me. Especially the lego version of Old Testament law and Paul's instructions for marriage in the epistles.

I'd forgotten how much of a dick old-testament God was.

Truly. Reading that pushed me straight over the edge into atheism. Old testament god was a fucking meanie. Let's see... if a man is your slave it's for 6 years, but if he likes it and wants to stay POUND A FUCKING AWL THROUGH HIS EAR INTO THE DOOR and you own him forever. If he wants to leave but has kids, you keep the kids. Anybody disagrees, stone him and his whole family.
Good goin' G.

Holy crap, is that Epistles shit on slavery and women for real? Living outside the Christian religion, I'm not very well versed on anything but the Old Testament. So, seriously, what the fuck?

In a similar but less sacreligious vein, I recommend the Slate series "Blogging the Bible" (http://www.slate.com/id/2141712/entry/2141714/) wherein a secular Jew decides to read the Torah because he never had before. Lots of interesting questions about whether OT God really knows what he is doing.

Agreed. "Happy Honeymoon."
Oddly enough, my son saw this in his religious school. So I guess someone thought they're not sacrilegious.

The "Ten Plagues (http://www.thebricktestament.com/exodus/index.html)" set is mandatory reading. Biblical continuity errors lol.

Oh, I wouldn't say it's at all sacreligious. Shit, it's the literal verses just with some cute pictures to accompany it. If you think the book offends itself, welcome to atheist club. The first rule of atheist club is...

I love that Joshua guy. They did a good job casting him as a kind of Dark Knight-esque figure, with that little cap blowing in the Lego wind as he chops thousands of people to pieces.

These rules were the standard at those times, and mosr of them are copied from Hamorabi's rules.
The point of the slave that does not want to leave is to avoid some kind of a stockholm syndrom where the slave is scared to go on with his life and prefers staying as a slave (And no, that was not a life being a slave).
It's to let the public know this slave has wished for his life to be like that.
Sure they could go with a ugly pink barret I guess, but they weren't that sophisticated 3500 years ago. :)
God might have serious problems in the OT, but these are not those problems.

What really sells this scene is the pizza sitting off to one side. A little monkey spanking before dinner anyone?

Hilarious. "The Reverend" finally came out with this in book form. I got it for my birthday this year. This guy has been around, working on this, for a long time. Glad to see he's successful, this is very clever.
I particularly like this one, at the end of "Why To Keep The Law"
God relaxes with a cup of joe over your desecrated corpse (http://www.thebricktestament.com/the_law/why_to_keep_the_law/dt28_45.html)

I'd forgotten how much of a dick old-testament God was. No shit. The Joshua stuff is nasty (but the second circumcision bit is really funny).
