I know this project (here (http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/)) is dead, but does anyone know of any similar projects, other than the King's Quest games?

Also, how do you actual feel about games that start as graphical re-imaginings of older games? For the moment, I wish to say nothing. Rather, I have nothing to say, ho hum.

In general, remaking old games is great, especially for ones that can't easily be played on modern PCs or that just don't hold up at all due to graphics or other things (like AGI Sierra games...walking around with arrow keys and frantically typing in commands on the keyboard was fine 15 years ago, not so much now). Chrono Trigger, however, didn't need it, IMO. I replayed it not too long ago on an emulator, and it was perfectly fine.

Edit: Holy crap, I just looked at the screenshots and I take it back. That looks awesome, what a pity.

I really like when good games are updated. I'm not a total graphics whore by any stretch, but it is nice to see some of the old games given more "oomph" in that department (and sometimes that really lets the original idea shine even brighter when some technical limitations are no longer present).

It's a shame Square put a stop to that project. It looked very nice and it obviously took a lot of effort from people that gave a damn.

Yes, the graphics are something special. Watch the video for a really pleasant surprise. No idea how they did it.

Yeah, I was disappointed when I heard they were C&D'ed. In general I don't mind something like this because it brings a great game to the attention of people who might not otherwise give it a second glance. Moreover it gives me a reason to play through it again, while enjoying someone's re-imagining of the visuals (provided they're done well, like with this one).

I'm not sure about other games like this, though. Capcom re-made Megaman X for the PSP, with completely overhauled 3D graphics. This was an idea I had for a mod for years but I could never find a coder to agree with me that it would be good >:|
