So, I've played about 3 maps of this. And I really don't get it. It's almost the exact same game as BF2, but with different smoke grenade effects and AP/HP tank rounds added. The maps are nice, but why did they spend so much time on creating unique vehicles? It plays exactly the same.

I'm happy with it- it's a pile of new maps to play without any micropayments.
Observations- AA is particularly nasty, so the jet whores don't ruin the game. The artillery pieces now work like in BF1942 i.e. a spec ops guy spots and you then watch where your shots land and compensate.
My one little bitch abouut the game is related to the limited amount of splash damage that tank rounds seem to do, either sabot or heap. I've let off rounds that landed next to prone infantry without any ill effects. That's annoying.
Other than that, the maps are well made, no problems were apparent with connecting or lag.
Two thumbs up.

Great mod, definitely worth the 1 GB download.

Ok, I put more time into this last night. It is a really good mod. It's similar to BF2, but it adds just enough nuance to make it feel fresh. Also, the new maps are really well done.
Is it new maps and toys or a realism mod for BF2?

New maps and toys. The original PoE was set in Africa. This one is a German-Ukrainian affair. As far as I can see, everything is new. I've only played on standard flag-capping modes but there are also some new gameplay modes.
Also, it's free!
