Thank god for this game. Played a VERY good facing worlds CTF match with 5 other friends.

When the match first started I quickly went to sniper rifle. That's what the map is friggin famous for anyway. So I snipe a good number of people before the opposition gets the same idea and starts sniping at me. This sets the pace for a very STEADY sniper war. There wasn't any baby-sitting going on here. We were pretty much neck and neck, for a while, everyone with very impressive scores, the snipers having the highest, hito and tre's scores were pretty spiffy.

I gave up on sniping and went for the teleport route. By using the teleport device over and over I was able to escape death multiple times during full frontal assaults.

Problem? You cant teleport with a flag. So on the 4-3 score, blue team up (my team) I remembered what I saw one of the other players do. At one point he grabbed the flag, then took the portal to the top of the tower, of course he jumped right off, falling to his death. Instead of heading that route I made it to the top of the tower after skillfully using my tele device to avoid crazy rockets, and then slowly made my way down the tower via the very small ledges the thing was made of. The last drop was a bit far but it wasn't enough to hurt. I think had a team mate cover me from sniping position while I zigg zagged and jumped to freedom.

I could hear bullets whizzing by the whole time. No doubt it was sniper fire. The match was a really good one, best i've had in a long time. Everyone playing seemed to be of even skill too.

Rock!

I still want UT 2003 tho damnit!

It's amazing that UT still kicks major ass, eventhough it's over 3 years old. I play UT every day, and it's usually dm and ctf. Still an awesome game.

also... I'm not a big fan of facing worlds, because those snipers are a pain in the ass. Also... Their is way to much spawn killing on that map and I always end up falling off the damn world =(

The UT sniper rifle has always had too high an ROF for my tastes, which is a big reason why I'm not a huge Facing Worlds fan myself. However, it CAN be a good map on the rare day that people don't spawn-snipe, which is really isidious (and I might add, fairly fruitless except for personal score-there's hardly any respawn lag in UT).

I was involved in last night's game with MAF, and we had a terrific time. That doesn't mean I'm not aching for UT2003-there's still plenty of room in this market for a 'traditional' online FPS experience when it's done right, and UT 2003 certainly looks to fit that bill quite nicely.

Snipers are easy to avoid. I usually just used my teleporter a lot. You can avoid MOST attacks with it, the only trick in CTF is what to do once you have the flag ;)

Good snipers can still get you if your teleport pattern is predictable. Plus, there will be other people shooting splash weapons at you anyway. It's tough.

The only real way to get out with the flag against a skilled team is to have your team camp the opposing team's spawn points, then go down from the top of the tower. (Well, if you want to be really cheesy you can redeemer launch yourself back towards your base so somebody else can pick up the flag and cap, but yeah, that's REALLY cheesy...)
