View Full Version : Best Browser for OS X?

What are the thoughts on this?

I had been using the OS X version of Firefox out of habit, but I've since discovered Camino, which is a Mozilla browser designed strictly for OS X. Cousin to Firefox. Prettier (built using cocoa), shares a lot of the features, but doesn't have any real extension ability. I never really used those, anyway.

Safari seems to be the "only" browser for true Mac elitists though, but my experience seems to be it has issues with a number of sites. Face it, it's a IE/Firefox world really, but can anyone weigh in on this?

I've tried Google-fu for an answer and it's all over the place. I know the answer should be just to "keep them all installed," but that's seriously a pain if I need to use different browsers for different web sites.

Oh, man, you have no idea what you're missing out on...extensions are pretty much FF's reason for existence.

Why would you keep them all installed? Firefox. Some people like Safari but I don't see it.

Camino is just a forked, somewhat gimped (always will be behind because of the fork) Firefox.

Firefox (and by extension, Camino) is hideously bloated in OSX. Safari is less bloaty but not as compatible (and also uses the chrome theme that I don't like). Opera's also available and seems to work better.

That being said I suffer through the bloat simply because I'm used to Firefox.

I use FireFox. I'm used to it on the PC so it makes it easy on me.

I use Safari on OS X, FireFox on Windows.

Safari's limited compatibility can be problematic, but I'm used to my company's portal not working in Firefox so I have to use IE on both for remote access anyway.

I like Camino. It is great with Inquisitor and CamiScript.

I use firefox, mostly because it works with the Yahoo toolbar.

Actually, links (http://links.sourceforge.net/) works very well in Darwin.

I work with a lot of developers who use the Mac; they seem to use Firefox, mostly because of its plugins and web-development features.

After trying everything short of Opera, I'd have to say Firefox since you can customize anything you dislike.
