View Full Version : The End of the World is Nigh: Potentially NSFW

One of the prophesied signs of Armageddon is here (http://www.send2press.com/newswire/2006-03-0322-003.shtml)
It's the "Golden Calf" equivalent statue for the 21st century. If only we had a modern Moses to cast is down.
Reading through the report, I think it's this quote that got me:
The monument also acknowledges the pop-diva's pin-up past by showing Spears seductively posed on all fours atop a bearskin rug with back arched, pelvis thrust upward, as she clutches the bear's ears with 'water-retentive' hands.
And for those of you not clicking on the link and just reading the quote above thinking this is some sort of sculptural Britney Slashfic, you're doing yourself a true disservice.

This makes me laugh hysterically. If Spears is being held up as some sort of pro-life role-model, the movement must be in a lot more trouble than I thought.

Indeed.
I'm personally hoping this ends up on the front lawn of the South Dakota legislature, as a centerpiece.

Hmm. Reading more closely, the story indicates that this isn't any sort of "commissioned work" by pro-lifers, it's just the independent work of a Brooklyn artist. Which, to my mind, leaves open the possibility that its "message" is perhaps not delivered in earnest.
Does anyone want to see what it looks like from the back?
...compliment a posterior view that depicts widened hips for birthing and reveals the crowning of baby Sean's head.
Um no.

I nominate Bill to act as Moses and cast her down, then smote some of them Brooklyn kids, just to show he's not effin around.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and agree with Hawkeye that this might not be in earnest. Indeed, I'd go as far as to think that it's probably not.

You know, I saw this thread title and decided to ignore it, figuring I'd err on the side of causion while here at work. A couple hours later I see this story on BoingBoing and the first thing that comes to mind is "I bet this is what that 'End of the World' thread on QT3 is about."
Sure enough. You people never dissapoint. :)

Is it just me, or is that what might be the most ludicrous position to give birth in?

That statue makes Britney look like she's in heat. So, er... good likeness, I guess.

Hey, you stick with what you know.

The most disturbing thing in the whole article was this sentence:
Capla Kesting denies the statue was developed from a rumored bootleg Britney Spears birth video.
The subtext in there is horrifying to a downright Lovecraftian level.
As another forum says...
This is a totally accurate depiction of a traditional Kaballah birth ritual. You get on all fours, grab the severed dog head, and a midget slides underneath you on a skateboard with a switchblade - performing the C-section (or, the Pfannenstiel incision)- the baby drops on the concrete, and the husband, wearing the traditional trucker hat and Von Dutch jersey, breaks a bottle of Boone's over the mother's head. "A Broch!". It's tradition, people, look it up.
And because I saw it, and want it to be burned into all your brains:

It would seem so, but that's mostly because we're used to seeing women give birth in the semirecumbent position. Actually, if given a choice, a woman about to give birth will often prefer all-fours or even squatting. It's been argued that either of those latter positions are both more comfortable to the mother and are less prone to causing perineal tears than the semirecumbent position. However, it's usually avoided in a hospital setting, as those positions make it difficult for an obstetrician to deliver the baby and some people feel all-fours is too animalistic and squatting looks too much like taking a dump.
Regardless, XPav has annihilated my soul.

I like the image where their pubic hair mixes...that's just so unnecessary. Is this an actual sex manual for kids?

Seriously. Instead of googling "pussy pics closeups with crowning baby head" maybe stop after the second or third word.
I just found out today what a bildungsroman is.

Is this considered a serious work of art of Britney Spears simply giving birth?
Because if it is, all would-be provocateurs can just pack it in, because they'll never reach up to the pinnacle of bad taste that serious-minded people can reach.

I cheack the site listed every now and then for my dose of "I'm superior to celebrities" news -- and well, that's what I saw when I hit the page yesterday.
I just had to share.
