I gather there are a number of wars going on, and there have been lots of wars lately. Do countries declare any of them? (We haven't since WW2 but was wondering about others.) Is a declaration of war an outmoded concept? Does anyone care anymore?
Just curious.

I was always under the (difficult to substantiate with Google) impression that war declarations were avoided because of insurance implications.
Can't back that up, it might just be redneck apocrypha.

Shit, I thought I was the only one wondering about this.
Oh, and Wikipedia never ceases to amaze me.

Second that.
The Netherlands has never signed a peace treaty with Portugal after a conflict in 1567
