- Zelda DS: Phantom Hourglass presented (cellshaded, internally developed) - will be released this year and playable on E3
- more then 1000 Megadrive(*)/genesis/TurboGrafx games will be downloadable
- new software download service (ala XBLA)

(I'll update if anything follows)

IGN has a live report here: http://revolution.ign.com/articles/697/697882p1.html
(*) not all sources put megadrive in the list - so possibly this is unconfirmed.

Downloadable sega games on my nintendo?

Oh boy. If I could go back in time with this tidbit of information.

Wonder if they'd have the stomach to release some of the TGCD games. Ys I & II and Cosmic Fantasy would probably be enough to push me over the top for the Revolution.

Yay for downloading (and yay for Nintendo for going outside their own releases), but it's certainly not a solution for modern big-ticket games just yet.

Did they really change the name of their new system from 'Revolution' to 'GO'?

Toejam and Earl on Revolution would be the best thing ever.

If they did, I haven't heard about it.

False!

From the article:

relive their past gaming glories from the Sega Genesis console by playing a "best of" selection from more than 1,000 Genesis titles

They could have three games selected from more than 1,000, it doesnt say more than 1,000 downlodable.

And I will throw in some love for a new 2d sidescrolling mario game. It's been too long!

Movie of zelda is online at nintendo europe - it looks fantastic (http://media.nintendo-europe.com/compel/video/cri9US3Ag5tBu3OkYw7e30hIK1Rv3Sa8.mov)... Almost like wind waker itself, but with a more LTTP view.

I wonder why they went with a 2d zelda. Seems like even an Ocarina of Time remake would have sold like hotcakes.

Edit: ok, so they didn't. But I mean overhead-view, etc.

Ok, I just watched that video. Remember when I said I was excited? What I actually meant was crazily excited. Man, that stuff in there looks cool.

The stuff Chris Kohler has on his blog at Wired about New Super Mario Bros. makes it sound pretty dang awesome. Can't wait until May!

I remember hearing rumors about sega maybe allowing genesis games on the revolution awhile ago in nintendo power. So now SMB3 and Sonic 3 could be playable on the same console, is that a paradox ?

Nah not these days. But it blew my god damned mind when Sonic Adventure 2 came out for the Gamecube.

Here's that post, for the curious http://wiredblogs.tripod.com/games/index.blog?entry_id=1441857

New Super Mario Bros is the game I've been anticipating since Super Mario Advance. Zelda fans get have gotten two new games per console for the past decade, Mario fans have gotten two new games *total* in the past decade. And a bunch of Mario-branded sports games, which really just rubs salt in the wound.

It should also be mentioned that they gave a free copy of 'Brain Games' for the DS to everybody in the audience (maybe 8-10K people?).

But only if you left the auditorium, which cleared it for those of us who were waiting for Mr. Wright's speech at noon.

But I was jealous as hell when I saw them walking out with it.

Fantastic news! Can't wait to play the DS Zelda. From the video it looks like they'll let you draw the exact line your boomerang will take, and also plot ship courses, solve riddles and stuff.

It also looks like you control link in a PC action RPG way (like fate - that I got this week thanks to qt3). Navi seems to work as a reference point of where your stylus is, and link follows it. It also looks like you can draw certain shapes to execute special moves, or select an item and "control" the item.

Really curious to read the first hands-on preview of this one, as I'm a big zelda fan.

I just sort of assumed that everybody left and then came back in. In fact, I got a better seat by doing so.

Either way -- I predict that just like in Japan, Brain Age is going to be a smash hit here in the US. It's addictive in an odd 'this is fun self-improvement' sort of way.
