meh, probably not a big deal. They are probably past that point in development and he may of gotten a better offer.

The lead designer left or was fired six months before ship. This is either a very bad sign or a very good sign. What is isn't is "not a big deal".
Far as I can tell Lemur had no RPG experience whatsoever. My gut feelish is that Marmot's leaving is probably a good thing. JE Sawyer, Chris Avellone, Feargus, those guys know RPGs. Also, Hamster is french, and as we know the french are gaming poison.
But seriously, his name is "Ferret". How can you take that guy seriously? I just interviewed an indian DBA named "Ashit Kumar" and I mean, c'mon. Not gonna work.

Right, cause Ubisoft has put out nothing but crap lately.

Ok. We won't mention the prince of persia games, or Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. They must suck or have been designed by Michel Ancel, I guess.
And I suppose we can skip all the adventure games being put out by Microids.

Not to mention the Kheops adventure games, which I enjoy. And the Arx Fatalis guys.

This doesn't sound like a big issue. The game's due out in June, I think? With three months to the ship date, what's left for a lead designer to do?

I've been following this as well, and it doesn't seem like a big deal.
But as usual the Chicken Littles on the Bioware forums lost their damned minds.

Isn't the lead designer usually focusing on the (proposed) sequel at this point in the process?

Yes which is why its a non issue for NWN2. With Atari's current money troubles, I doubt they are planning NWN3. Besides, doesn't Atari lose all D&D rights after NWN2 ships?

Is Bioware going to support NWN2 after it ships? They're doing a great job on the original -- they're releasing patches and improvements even now. It really kept NWN-as-platform alive. If the second hopes to catch on as much, somebody gotta pay to keep it going.

I don't see why BioWare would support it...that would be up to Obsidian & Atari.

Where did you hear that? Unless they haven't been paying their royalties to Hasbro, they should have the D&D license locked up for several more years.

If it's up to Obsidian and Atari, the answer is probably going to be, "No."
