Finally got around to watching this. Has a lot cast members in common with The Wire (and a couple from Oz), and with Khandi Alexander in a role where I'm not cringing at her acting (I've only seen her in Newsradio and CSI:Miami, and she's 'okay' in the former and downright annoying in the latter).
The tone is VERY similar to The Wire, notably depressed and tragic. Anyone else watched it?
Yeah, it was pretty good, but not The Wire good. A pretty unflinching look at addiction.

I believe the same folks were responsible for The Corner as are responsible for The Wire.
Try reading the book sometime, if you really want to see "depressed and tragic." Yikes.

The Wire is kind of a series spiritual successor to The Corner, featuring some of the same actors (the sheer need for a wide variety of black actors in Baltimore) and minor characters that are cross-series related to one another in some form or fashion.
