Back in town and playing again - but not finding anyone when I go online. Wholly, is that offer still good? I got an orange in the mail and just planted it, but I'm still looking for cherries.
Has anyone had any luck in getting your town perfect? Those stupid pelicans sometimes tell me I've got too few and then too many trees, when I haven't even changed anything! I've heard the trick about mapping, but any tips on how to do it? It's harder than it looks, freehand!

I started at the upper-left corner and started moving down, placing a pattern on the ground every second square. For every 8th spot, I put down a different pattern to indicate the edge of the acre. Then, on the edges, I started counting off to the right the same way, using a third pattern type every 8th spot that way to indicate an intersection between 4 acres.
Of course, rivers and the pond and trees and rocks get in the way, so I had a bunch of temporary detours and construction lines. Once I had the corners between the acres mapped out, I filled in the rest of the acre edges (every second square, still) and then removed any non-edge patterns I'd laid down. In the end I had an explicit grid of exactly what's in each acre.
It *is* a fair bit of work though, and I'm not sure it can be made too much easier...

Thanks, F!
Can I follow up with one more stupid question? How do you lay a pattern down?
Oof, nevermind, figured it out. That was a stupid question!

I've got all the fruit I can handle, I'll try to remember to leave my town open tomorrow, and if not, we can try to connect over the weekend.

Great!
I've been opening my town in the evenings (EST), if someone would like to stop by. I think I just need someone to buy something from Nook's to get the next upgrade . . .

Hi all, I've got my gate open if anyone wants to come for a visit. Peaches, apples and pears a-plenty . . .
I've got a question for you all -- how many villagers do you have? I always seem to have around 6 or 7, and they come and go pretty quickly. What's the max?

Hey, apologies, I'm at my parents' house for the weekend and I wasn't thinking about the fact that we don't have wireless access here. I won't be online again with AC until late Sunday at the earliest.

No worries - I'm usually online in the evenings so I'll just keep an eye out for you. Thanks!

Don't forget to connect to WFC to get the Easter present in the mail!

Awesome. I'll have to tell the wife. She's STILL playing it daily. I'm going to jedi mind trick her into asking me to pick up Metriod Hunters tonight though.

Apparently there's a Cinco de Mayo present if you connect to WFC today.
And it turns out the Easter present (a warp pipe) was only given to Europeans... :(

I just got this, and I would like some friend codes to go visiting villiages. How does the online in this game work?

You need the friend code and then that person needs to have their DS turned on and in the game (idle mode is fine). It's much better with an active player-base, but hey, my DS is idle during the day anyway. I'll PM you my info tonight, and you can stop in and take as much fruit as you can carry.

This bump made me curious so I fired up my old AC cart for the first time in ages. I was expecting weeds to cover the entire town, but instead it was only, oh, 60-70% of it... I left the place a mess though, with items scattered all over as I was trying to organize them. I should see if I can get my old 11b router working and check for any online gifts.
